Okay so I love this next guy. I'm only on my phone so I can't do a big write up, but I'm shifting Hondo to SF and rounding out my starting 5 with one of the greatest scorers in the history of the game.

George "the Iceman" Gervin (Played overseas)

PG - Oscar Robertson
SG - George Gervin
SF - John Havlicek
PF - Bob Pettit

Jason Kidd

Career Stats..
12.6 Points
8.7 Assists
6.3 Rebounds

Career Highlights
NBA Champion
10 x All Star
5 x First Defensive team
4 x Second defensive team

With a pretty solid scoring team already on the park, I thought it'd be best to take the best available passing point guard. Some may forget how good he actually was in his prime at both ends of the court. He resonates the Junkyard Dog persona and will be a valuable member of this team.

Enjoys practice

Not a hell of a lot needs to be said about this man and the impact he made in the NBA. Revolutionized the scoring point guard position and pound for pound the greatest player to ever play the game. I couldn't really look past having one of the best scoring players.

Alright, I'm taking the New York Knicks' greatest ever big man (sorry Patrick, but where are your two Championships?):

willis-reed.jpg

He even did the whole kneepad thing before you.

Willis Reed (undecided)

18.7 ppg and 12.9 rpg over his 10 seasons with the Knicks.

NBA Rookie of the Year in 1965, NBA MVP in 1970 and 2 NBA Championships (complete with 2 NBA Finals MVP Awards) in 1970 and 1973. And these weren't no scrubs the Knicks beat, these were the LA Lakers featuring Chamberlain, West and Baylor.

Reed's inspirational and series deciding entrance in Game 7 of the 1970 Finals was voted as the number 1 moment in MSG history:

Reed was one of the most clutch playoff performers of all-time and will fit perfectly into my team of old dudes winners.

PG - Oscar Robertson
SG - George Gervin
SF - John Havlicek
PF - Bob Pettit
C - Bill Russell

B - Willis Reed

If you looked for a fault in my team, you'd probably say outside shooting. I know an easy way to fix that.

jesus-shuttlesworth-ray-allen-three-pointer-570x423.jpg

Best shooter of all time. What else needs to be said? Camp him outside the 3PT line and he'll just get buckets. He just does. Sacrificed his game to play second fiddle. Would easily have a 20+ career average in points if he wanted to stay the #1 man.

On an overall scale, this would be a reach, but he fits into this team perfectly. This man instantly makes us one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the world.

Oh yeah, and he's clutch as *

Competed in a 3pt shootout.

Current team
PG - Isiah Thomas (Coached an NBA team)
SG - Clyde Drexler (Is/has been an NBA Announcer/TV Analyst)
SF - Dominique Wilkins (Born overseas)
PF - Shaquille O'Neal (Played for 4 or more teams)
C - Wilt Chamberlain (Led the league in one aspect)

6 - Ray Allen (Competed in a 3pt shootout)

Decided I needed some defense so was going to pick Dennis, but I think he is too much of a liability. In this all-star type game coaches are going to love to be able to double off of him. So while I have manlove for him I can't pick him.

But I need defense and I need an international player. Having just checked the list of international players they are starting to run a bit thin.

So I pick...

Dikembe Mutombo

He averaged a double double in every one of his first 11 seasons. His final numbers are only low because he played until he was 72. Amazingly won defensive player of the year in 1995 and wasn't good enough to be named on the all-nba-defensive team. Work that out. Second all time on the blocks list makes him a perfect addition. Also his finger wag is still one of the most awesome finishing moves in mortal-nba-combat history.
