When I was growing up and beyond there were 3 great legends in the game Barass, Teddy and Muzza. Took turns in Captaining Victoria. Most of the kids in my working class neighbourhood had No 31 on their backs.

Ron's contribution to the culture and what it meant to play footy to your utmost capacity is immeasurable.

A player of average abilities who was able to exert extreme influence on games through sheer willpower.

And a coach who demanded the same of his players ,sometimes that was a big stretch ,but you can't argue with the outcome.
