Not sure about Handscomb being rated higher than Labuschange

Warner - 0 - Past it, shouldn't go to England.

Khawaja - 5 - 180 on a road probably shouldn't sway peoples opinions but it will. 153 runs at 25.5 over the first 3 Tests which is technically when the series was alive.

Labuschagne - 3.5 - starts every game but a tour peppered by s**t shots to get out.

Smith - 3.5 - 145 runs at 29, looked a much better captain then Cummins only positive.

Head - 5 - showed decent intent and got ****ed over by the selectors.

Green - 5 - a hundred on a road but missed out on the important Tests so hard to rate.

Carey - 5 - keeping excellent / batting crap.

Renshaw - 0 - * can't even score runs in Shield cricket, no idea why they pick him for India.

Handscomb - 3 - "spin specialist" 145 runs at 29 and thats with a 72 not out propping up that average.

Cummins - 0 - bowled s**t and captaincy was shocking, Smith should take over again until a real captain is found.

Lyon - 8 - bowled well, led the way.

Murphy - 6.5 - good first series.

Starc - 0 - crap, selectors need to be mindful what tours they pick this guy on

MK - 4 - 5/16 but looked unthreatening majority of the time.

Bolland - N/A

Australia's best for the series : Nathan Lyon.

Never to get selected again : Renshaw, Warner, MK and Handscomb.

And I thought I was tough.

You have over rated Lyon imo And under rated Uzzi and Handscomb.

Smith ain’t a smart captain. Overbowled Lyonfor starters. Cummins is way ahead imo.

I’d add the Selectors get a D for selecting Agar, Hazlewood and other injured players. The selection of Warner was the predictable disaster it was always going to be.

Bailey needs to stand down if he selects Warner for the Ashes.

They got back from Z grade by moving Head up the order and admitting error by flying SpecialK in to replace Agar.

Uzzie was 153 runs in 6 digs at 25.5 leading into the 4th Test

Aye. Agree it was a road but he did well under pressure when Head was an idiot, Marnus got himself out and Smith was just a disgrace.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today ...Around the wicket

harsh scores there

I was pretty impressed overall with the performance of the team. Obviously let down by the moments in the first 2 tests but think overall we performed well.

Warner 1 - Should never have been selected, scaled up to 1 based on Renshaw.
Khawaja 8 - Batted well, 2 good 50's and a big hundred*. Took a ripper catch too.
Head 7 - Came in and did the job we needed from him and made consistent runs. Made our winning run chase stress free.
Marnus 7 - Didn't set the world on fire but managed to average 40 across the series without fully cashing in on the 4th test road.
Smith 4 - Poor series by his high standards. 4 might be generous but he wasn't completely useless and was refreshing as captain.
Handscomb 5 - Pretty much performed to par. Made some solid scores and set up a winning position in the 2nd test (72*).
Renshaw 0 - Straight up useless liability.
Green 7 - Made a hundred on the road, came into the side and clearly improved it.
Carey 5 - Did half his job flawlessly, batted poorly.
Cummins 1 - Bowled terribly by his standards and captaincy was poor. (forgivable clear excuses, but they don't come into my calculation)
Starc 2 - Not much value to the team overall.
Boland 3 - Only played 1 test, was tight but no wickets. Hard to judge.
Lyon 8 - Led the attack, took 22 @ 22 and 11 in our win.
Kuhnemann 6 - Pass mark. Took 5'fa to set up our win. Pretty good debut series.
Murphy 7 - Really liked him. Came in and took wickets early in the series and was tight throughout.

Some of these ratings are laughable and make no sense. As I mentioned in the match thread, you can't put a disclaimer on Khawaja's performances because he scored 180 on a road which "propped up his performances" and then completely ignore the 81 and 60 he scored on incredibly difficult pitches. It has to work both ways.

Handscomb as well is harsh. 72* in the 2nd, then set the game up with Green in Indore by batting for time and allowing us to build a vital lead after the 1st innings.

Completely agree with these ratings and your reasonings for them.

5 is a pass mark, only Australian batsmen to get a pass mark on my scoring, you think averaging 25.5 on the pitches that could actually wield a result is good?

Averaging 25.5 on the first 3 pitches is a good result yes.

Very simplistic view looking purely at the numbers.

Again, I ask you... if you can dismiss his 180 on a road, why aren't you factoring in his performances on 3 incredibly difficult pitches. His performance in the 1st innings where he scored 60 was that far above anyone else who batted in the first innings for both India and Australia.

I am, gave it a pass mark of 5.

& I'm the only one looking at the whole series not the stat booster 4th Test.

Handscomb

31, 6, 72*, 0, 19, 17

How on earth are people giving him a 7+, laughable.

Even the 72* he was dropped 3 times.

Murphy and Kuhn having the same score nah. Kuhn did well but Murphy was considerably better IMO. The Indian batters would not attack him until really late in an innings.

Carey a 5 for me, he kept well and that's his main job.

6 is a bit harsh for Lyon.

Agree with the rest, nicely done.

Rating the player performances?
You asked what world do those scores deserve a rating of more than 5 and I gave you a "world".

This is the issue you seem to be ignoring or incapable of understanding. You can't pick and choose when to count scores and when not to when evaluating player performances. You're completely downplaying the scores he made in incredibly difficult situations.
