Europe War in Ukraine - Thread 4 - thread rules updated

Hey all,

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

The war with Ukraine has weakened russia's security.
ISIS will continue with more terrorist attacks on russian territory.
The anti-Kremlin russian armed groups based in Ukraine will also continue with more attacks on russian territory.

From an Asia Times article on russia’s far east.
“It is alright for China to help Russia develop its Far East region but we must get enough benefits, not just small profits,” he says. “Who is begging for help? Who is the real owner of the Far East region? If Russia is sincere, it should at least return the Outer Manchuria and Kuyedao (Sakhalin) to China.”
He says if seized land is not returned, China should refrain from making investments in the region. He cited Britain’s handover of Hong Kong to China as an example of a peaceful sovereignty transfer that Russia could follow.

First off the fact that Russian forces acted so slow and let the gunmen get away despite their propaganda shows they weren’t prepared for the attack. Especially considering ISIS gunmen would normally fight to the death.

Secondly l doubt that the guys that so calmly and cold heartedly killed people at will were the same ones that were shown cowering in he videos being apprehended. They were scapegoats because the Russian police have no idea who they really are and have to pin it on someone to stop their own embarrassing stance. Even Tajikistan (where the alleged gunman are from) have come out and claimed it couldn’t be them as they were elsewhere at the time.

Finally if ISIS continue with more terrorist attacks on Russian territory, Putin has a huge problem on his hands. Which country are Russia going to attack to get rid of them?
I think that at least in some cases, they did get the right guys (eventually, after waiting for the deathtoll to be maximized).

Images from both the terror attack and the captured individuals include matching decals on the clothing:

The massive missile strike seems to be aimed at western Ukrainian cities, eg Lviv, Rivne, Vinnitsia. And as this is getting close to the border with Poland, sometimes they get a bit toey:

Rocket to Poland? Blyadina in the Novovolynsky district, 20-30 km from the border - Vanyok. The Poles raised F-16 fighters. [Trukha Ukraina TG]

Poland and its allies have activated aircraft to ensure the safety of Polish airspace, - OK of the country's Armed Forces. [Trukha Ukraina TG]

And potentially a missile strike on an oil depot in Crimea, near to Simferopol.
Meanwhile, they drove through the oil depot in Gvardiyskyi in the so-called Crimea, - mass media. There were about 20 explosions. There were about 20 explosions. By the way, this oil depot is located near the Ostryakove railway station . Locals write that it is burning strongly. Locals write that it is burning strongly. We are waiting for more shots! [Trukha Ukraina TG]

Has Vlad been reading up on his history again? In 1933 Hitler had the Reichstag burnt down four weeks after his election to Chancellor and blamed it on communists. It was swallowed up by all and sundry and thus entrenching his absolute power over Germany. Vlad's re-election has been shorter but the outcome will probably be the same.

One of the RF's missiles spent 39 seconds in Polish airspace. Two Polish F16 pilots were only a given order away from shooting it down. The order didn't come. [Misyiagin TG]

Edit: A frustrated Ukrainian milblogger commented that if the missile was full of grain the Poles would have destroyed it without delay.

People who are brave and ferocious when confronted with unarmed civilians cowering in fear when they are on the receiving end is practically a meme at this point. So I am not sure what you think pointing out these things means?

My point was that ISIS soldiers/fighters are radicals who are so heavily invested in their beliefs that they wouldn’t think twice about going on suicide missions and dying.

Hence why l was skeptical those captured were the perpetrators.

However as Mobbs pointed out from the videos, the clothing seems to match so it looks like they were indeed the ones.

You can understand the frustration.

Its violated Polish air space, they have every right to shoot it down, yet they let it go. What were they afraid of? Escalation from Russia….

All this says to Putin is Poland/Nato are weak, l will be able to do it again next time and push the limits even further.

It's hard to say with such limited information.
These are poor people from impoverished countries.
Maybe they had financial incentives to make it back alive to their country.
I mean, not every country is employing meat wave attacks for their political advantage.

It's strange that the attackers are saying that they were driven by money as their primary motivation. Maybe the thought of martyrdom needs to sweetened with some $$ these days.
Tajik president said that terrorists have no nationality when speaking to Putin. They both agreed to work together on anti terrorist actions. Supposedly four of the attackers are Tajik.
An hour and a half for local authorities to respond to the attack either shows how incompetent they are or maybe they have been asked to send some people to Ukraine.
Hard for Putin to keep pushing this as an Ukranian attack with all the information out now (not that it will stop him) he is in a bind he needs to hit back but where ? Syria ? Afghanistan ? Or does he need to send troops to Tajikistan to help them out.

Tajiks are lucky they're a couple of borders away from Russia.

After the Russian invasion, the next obvious target will be the baltics, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia. Take your pick which one, but it will happen as long as Putin is in charge.

This invasion of Ukraine is the same old story for Russian imperial expansion which Putin wants to continue.

What a coward Putin is. Instead of dealing with the failure of Russian security services and the fact that he has allocated far too many resources to the Ukraine invasion which brings no benefit to the Russian people at all he pathetically tries to blame it on Ukraine.

Never mind the fact that the car used in the attacks was registered in Belarus and the "suspects" were apprehended 25km from the Belarus border.

Darth sums it up perfectly.

Putin is trying to steer away from the whole ISIS thing and pin it on Ukraine because he doesn't want to upset the Russian Muslim population which is a sizeable one. He and ordinary Russians have been racist towards the Muslim population for a long long time, and its been propagated by the use of them as cannon fodder in the Ukrainian war. Last thing he needs is stoke the fire and have them rise up against him, which is more likely than your Moscovites.

Exactly. A fast running failed state chasing ghosts instead of the real threats. They especially don't want to admit that not only did they neglect to see it, but their enemy in US intelligence actually knew about it and tried to warn them. Shows who the superior intelligence department is.

Nort-Ost was textbook Putin criminality.

Lets not forget the Beslan school massacre in 2004. Russian "special" forces storm the school with tanks, thermobaric weapons, RPG's and the end result was 334 people dead including 186 children.

Summary: If in a hostage situation in Russia, try an escape yourself because thats your best chance of staying alive as they don't give a s**t about you.
