If someone had the ability to put together a 'highlights' reel of Sucklings poor efforts it would put that little clip to shame. I'm not sure how anyone can go into bat for Suckling on the basis he's a hard footballer? Terrific outside? Absolutely.. Tough? Nope

LOL, where have I said that he is hard, all I've said is that he's isn't soft, he's just incompetent at contested football.
Once again, you can get as many clips as you like, find me where he's pulled out of a contest in the past 2 years, if he's beaten in a contest which most of the time he is that makes him incompetent...... Is Shoey soft ? No he's incompetent in 1 on 1 contested marking football, he's incompetent at positioning himself and or in understanding on how to use his body. Will he put his body on the line for the team. yes. Soft vs Incompetent.....they are not the same.
Running back with the flight of the ball into oncoming traffic is not the act of a player that is soft.......
If you wan't to go on about a player being soft then look no further than Hill.....has he ever put himself in a position that may get himself hurt for the advantage of the team....where's his criticism ?

I wouldn't say he's soft I jus think he's incapable of being hard.

Using Suckling as an attacking weapon from our back half has been rightfully identified by many opposition clubs as one of the most important things to stop to limit us.

Pressuring him and going through his opponent has turned him from one of our best weapons into one of our worst liabilities this year.

The fact he's really only got the one trick makes it incredibly hard for him to fix that up. For the sake of his position in the 22 he's going to need to either add a string or two to his bow in his time out of the side (assuming he's not a late inclusion) or he's going to need to reinvent himself, possibly as some sort of forward or winger.

Clarko seems to have changed his tune now on Suckers since last Saturday. Perhaps he watched the replay, perhaps Fages convinced him Suckers was a liability. He is only worthwhile if his kicking is super elite and sets up plays like no one else can. When his kicking is off a fraction like now he's got no other tricks to fall back on. He'll be back.

At the time suckers committed to go with the flight Ben Brown was going to ground as he stumbled and with two other hawks in support he really didn't think he had much to fear.

Clarkson from this mornings presser. "Hopefully he goes into the Box Hill side, has a few good games there and comes back into the side."

Sounds like he will need to earn his spot back in the team if he can perform well for BH. Sends a good message I think.

So suckling marked the ball without looking at it. that's tremendous....very unique

Matt Suckling is an excellent kick. Problem seems to be when he gets leg weary. A common problem. Training needs to include kicking accuracy when tired. I'd have them all kicking for goal (or passing) after running their time trials. Practice when tired. Develop methods to improve individual kicking on tired legs. It's late in games that we are making these kicking errors.

******* hell. Give the guy at least that much. Any other player would be lauded as taking a good solid gutsy mark. But no has to be denigrated even when doing the right thing for once!

Just putting it out out there (again!):

Out: Suckling
Late in: Suckling

Late, late in: BigFooty meltdown!

;)
Etihad, closed roof, quiet Sunday game, battling side (them, not us). Should be BoG and any talk of spending a few weeks at Box Hill will be forgotten by Clarko after the bye.
