So through the off season all players in the competition who are 26 years old or older all decided to compete in a monster truck race, and through sheer bad luck every player managed to do their ACL.

What is your teams best 22 going into 2024 with no players as of now over 26 years old?

For Sydney

FB: Lloyd, Rampe, Melican
HB: Florent, McCartin, Blakey
C: Campbell, Mills, Gulden
HF: Parker, McDonald, Heeney
FF: Papley, Amartey, Hayward
R: Grundy, Warner, Rowbottom
Int: Cunningham, McInerney, Adams, McLean
Sub: Wicks

FB: Vickery, Snell, McInerney
HB: Florent, McCartin, Blakey
C: Campbell, Sheldrick, Gulden
HF: Konstanty, McDonald, Jordon
FF: Wicks, Amartey, Hayward
R: Ladhams, Ch.Warner, Rowbottom
Int: McLean, Roberts, Co.Warner, Cleary
Sub: Magor

The FB line is a disaster, but other than that I don't think this team would be too bad, though obviously there are quite a few unknown players in the team too.

What would your best under 26 team be?

B: J.Henry, De Koning, Z. Guthrie
HB: Bowes, O'Sullivan, Mullin
C: Holmes, Parfitt, Knevitt
HF: Miers, O. Henry, Dempsey
FF: Strangle, Neale, Close
R: Conway, Bruhn, Clark,
Int: Edwards, Stevens, Clohesy, Humphries
Sub: Willis.

Very raw, but managed a full 23 still.

A good forward line and in and under mids there. Overall the forward line and midfield is pretty solid. Like the Swans though the defence is, well poor.

12 players on the bench!

If they remove rotation caps this would side would run over most teams.

Forward line is awful but defence is surprisingly solid and the midfield is pretty good too. Just not sure who would kick your goals.

26 and under as at 31/12/2023

B: John Noble - Nathan Murphy - Isaac Quaynor
HB: Tew Jiath - Charlie Dean - Jakob Ryan

Midfield the obvious strength, also looks good talent and depth across the flanks at both ends. Weakness is that the team needs to shore up 1 more tall at either end.

I think we'd have to load up the mids.

Bowes showed plenty when we threw him there round 24 (and in his 3rd year at the Suns). Holmes' coaches votes actually came from his on ball rather than wing minutes in 2023, contrary to popular opinion.

Mannagh won't turn 27 till near the end of season 2024 so I'm going to cheekily include him.

Bolded those who will more then likely be there in Round 1, it’s a fairly good look at our side for 2024.
Watson might be there too.

Fremantles looks pretty good. Could do with one more small forward and back, wings need to establish themselves but have the tools. Otherwise pretty strong.

Strong midfield and flankers (especially). Desperately short of KPPs - need Starc and Rayner to play tall in this team. It doesn’t help that Hipwood, Doedee, Joyce, and Ryan are all 26 for this exercise.

Didn’t include any of the new draftees but you can see why we went tall with Morris, Lloyd, and ZZ.

A good forward line and in and under mids there. Overall the forward line and midfield is pretty solid. Like the Swans though the defence is, well poor.

The backline is clearly the weakest third of the ground in that side, though it look a lot stronger had you made this thread 2-3 weeks ago - Weitering just turned 26.

There's also a balance issue to correct with 3 rucks being eligible - TDK, HOK and Mirkov - I've put 2 in the side but don't have Mirkov anywhere near the level. An extra structural piece in his place would certainly be nice.

Half of our list is 21 or under, resulting in a lot of unproven talent in these sort of exercises. Especially in the midfield. Forward line stacks up, need to find a replacement for McGovern pretty soon though in that defence.

B: Michalanney, Butts, Murray
HB: Milera, Worrell, Hinge
C: Schoenberg, Soligo, Jones
HF: Cook, Thilthorpe, Murphy
F: Rankine, Fogarty, Gollant

Our whole list bar 5 players are 25 and under (shiels, greenwood, corr, McDonald and tucker)
Only corr and McDonald of those 5 are best 22 and even lmac might fall out during the year despite being co skipper (would replace archer and one on the bench)

B: Goater Logue Archer
HB: Fisher Comben Sheezel
C: Powell Phillips Stephens
HF: Duursma CCJ Thomas
F: Zurhaar Larkey Stephenson

HF: A, Jones, Naughton, McNeil
FF: Weightman, Ugle-Hagan, Khamis
R: Darcy, B.Smith, Sanders
Int: Gallagher, Garcia, Bedendo, L.Smith, Bramble.

L.Smith and bramble squeeze in cause they have more developed bodies than the other draftees. Forward line stands out with naughton, JUH and weightman, but an ageing midfield certainly needs to be replaced in the next 2-3 years.

Collingwood’s the best so far. 7 Premiership players, 2 x All Australians and a Norm Smith medalist
Geelong isn't terrible on that scale either.

7 premiership players (Holmes unlucky not to make it 8 from injury), 1x AA (Stengle), a runner up BnF (J.Henry 2021), 22under22 full back (SDK), gun young wingman (Holmes) and forward (O.Henry) and twice top 10 BnF (Close).
