lol mate, i'm sitting very comfortably with our futurue spine, especially when comparing against Carlton's future spine. Your forward line consists of Fevola, and maybe Brad Fisher every 5 games. By the time Carlton actually pull it all together for a serious tilt at a premiership, do you think 'Mr Incrediblue' is still going to be around? No, me either. I would have thought that the team who a) beat you comprehensively, twice; and b) actually has some sort of plan when drafting (you'll notice that we have a nice spine already at the club, and getting games, and some quality smalls around them, while you have some good young mids and um ) are slightly ahead.

I know Waite's having a great season but I'm still not sure about him being a CHF/CHB in a premiership side. I don't think Fev will be around for Carlton's next crack at the flag- possibly 5-6 years off.

I must say i am a little surprised with all of my fellow Essendon supporters.
Almost 5 pages in and every single one of you has tipped an Essendon win (assuming Dyson doesn't play. It was the same in the pre season, a few good performances and the over rating begins. We struggled to get past a woeful West Coast team who clearly wasn't taking the game too seriously yet now we are good things against the Blues. The Blues are nothing special but they are better then us.

We don't need to finish last to bottom out. We have been quietly drafting quality kids without the fanfare. Yes carltank has an upside but dont know about the massive part. If you saw the game yesterday you would of seen our future. Take off your blinkers and see it for what it is. Lonergan, Reimers, Neagle, Myers, Houli, Watson, Monfries and add a fit Gumbleton, should i go on will be very good players for us. It is you who cant see the big picture. Carltank have a good midfield, but i believe Essendon is building a much better even side. Even sides win premierships not a handful of stars. As for the spoons, you know where you can shove them because the Essendon Football Club does not win spoons. Rubbish clubs like carltank have them reserved.

Rediculous comments. You simply do not need to bottom out to work your way up the ladder. Lets look at the last few drafts shall we.

2005: Murphy pick 1, Pendlebury pick 5 -> Would take Pendlebury anyday!
2006: Gibbs pick 1, Selwood pick 7 -> Would take Selwood in a flash.

The number 1 pick is usually a very decent player, but history shows they are rarely the best players in the draft for a given year.
