2005: Murphy pick 1, Pendlebury pick 5 -> Would take Pendlebury anyday!
2006: Gibbs pick 1, Selwood pick 7 -> Would take Selwood in a flash.

The number 1 pick is usually a very decent player, but history shows they are rarely the best players in the draft for a given year.

I personally think Gibbs will be a superstar in a few years and will end up being well ahead of Selwood - who will also be a gun.

Also think Murphy is alot better than Pendlebury. Better in and under player and a better work ethic.

Pendlebury has much much better disposal than murphy whose disposal is questionable. I also think Gibbs will be a very good player but as yet has given me no reason to think he will be any better than selwood who has shown plenty.

I stand by my point that you dont need the number one pick to become a successful team.

They were saying on MMM the other day thatn there is only one team to win a premiership with a number one draft selection. And that was west coast and the player was Drew Banfield.

Neagle is the goods, I like the look of him. Gumby? he has played 5 games, and is miles behind in his development. He is a gun, or was as a kid. But blind faith is one thing. I realistically see us finishing 9th to 11th this year. You guys, are on the way down in 'my opinion'.....

What time frame are you talking about. Draft picks are needed by every club, no one is expecting to win the flag next year. Teams change over years. Some players representing our club might not necessarily be there the next time we win the flag. Same for your club. I'd be more worried about ur mob atm. The heavy reliance on Fev is a major worry. You have a bunch of good kids but thats about it. Essendon atm, as i said previously have a lot of good kids at their disposal. What you saw on sunday was just a fraction of what else is on the list. Dempsey, Houli, Winderlich, Gumby, Hislop, Hocking, Pears etc.. will come into the team at various stages. At the end of the year, the club will select more kids and the cycle continues. Its not an exact science but id rather have a young and even team coming up than a team that is reliant on too few.
