Thats an insult to the Swans SS,they will get smashed by a full strengh Ormond.Half the side are old Ormond juniors who arn't tough enough to get a game.Haven't seen every game but I'll give it a go.
Tim McClardy and Tim Gobbo have been two standouts from the OMs sensational season, both are prolific in the guts and are handy in front of goals.
Nik Umiljendic has been the big improver for Ormond this season. After slugging away in the back pocket in junior footy, he's come of age as a KP who can run. He's built like Goddard, can hold down a man as well as racking up plenty of footy. The other one is Rory Calahane, who has been at OJ&AFC for as long as I can remember, still racking up the touches after 100-odd games in juniors and a flying start in the ammos with 11 goals against Old Mentone. To add to that they probably have the premier forward duo in the comp with Jarrod Lee and Dan Willis kicking 100 goals between them, Willis himself has booted 50 goals in just 9 games this year (including the season high score of 13.2 against Old Mentone).
Brighton's speedster Lachy Nash is the U19s equivalent of Sam Mitchell, recruited from St. Leonards, he would be polling the three votes (in this poster's opinion) in 7 of the 17 OBGFCs games. So long as the OBs leading goalkicker Lachie Kennett doesn't take too many votes off him, Nash looks to be right up there in the voting for the league B+F.
John Mapleston (mentioned above) has excelled on and off the field, many Beauy fans touting him as the league's top captain, his leadership has been pivotal to their possible finals finish this year. Although Mapleston's well drilled leadership is a standout for the Beauy unit, Matt Petering is the one people are talking about in the Beauy circles, always racks up 25-30 touches and is very, very good around goal which is always handy.
Paul McGlashan has been consistant every week at full forward for Caulfield averging over 3 goals a week for the 15 games he's played, he kicked 11 against Old Mentone. He's carrying a minor injury heading into finals and might be rested this week against OH. Luke Spinks and Dylan Tobias are two hard nuts who despite lacking disposal efficiency would be two of the hardest men in the comp, hard ball gets and clearances are their specialties. Tom Sundberg (who floats in and out from Collingwood reserves) is IMO the best midfielder in the comp, if he played all 18 games would win the B&F by the Flemington straight. Dave Allanson, who's rise from the 10Bs/3rd XVIII at CGS has been a revalation in the ruck, his disposal isn't top quality but his work in the centre bounces and around the ground has been sensational. He would be leading the clearances for the U19 Sth ruckmen. Caulfield is a side built around tackling and pressure, they don't have many flirty outside players, and the coach recognises that is the best way for them to play as the players make up for a slight imbalance in skill with their desperation at the footy. They are they Sydney Swans of this league.
Nick Corp and Jack Parsons are the Collegians duo that will figure highly in the end of season voting, Corp has booted 50 goals this year and Parsons would probably be one of the top few in the comp for clearances.
Well thats about it for now, FWIW I may as well give a bit of a last round preview;
Melbourne can sew up top spot with a win at home against lowly Oakleigh. A loss would see them concede top spot to Caulfield who are playing Old Haileybury in McKinnon. Ormond have sealed their spot in the four, 8 points clear of Beaumauris who they play this weekend, but can move up to second place at the expense of Caulfield if they drop their game against OH. Beauy are even more pressured to win this game, a loss, and a win to either Brighton (vs Mentonians) or Collegians (vs Mazenod) will have them sitting just out of the four. At the other end of the scale Oakleigh have last spot all but sewed up, they would have to beat the top of the table OMs by around 200 points and have Caulfield thump Old Haileybury by the same margin to get off the bottom of the ladder.
Hope that answered a few questions.
Cheers, SS![]()
Yeah but they were the better half of Ormond JuniorsThats an insult to the Swans SS,they will get smashed by a full strengh Ormond.Half the side are old Ormond juniors who arn't tough enough to get a game.
It is better to have respect for a local club, not a schoolboys side. And why are your posts so wide SS.Yeah but they were the better half of Ormond Juniors. Thats why I have so much respect for Ormond, cause they were able to rebuild as a quality side with their depth after losing probably their best 10-12 players.
So Beauy beat Ormond.
Swannie, in speaking with a couple of Ormond senior players this was always going to be a dead rubber for them as both OB & Collegians had already given them hidings during the year. They even let Duthrie and Fretchy in for their 1st games as reward.
Expect a couple of big forwards back this week.

I was having a joke with SS,James Clements was released from hospital this morning and hopefully will make a full recoveryPity we won't get to find out...........not getting past Beauy must have been disappointing! How is the guy that got taken in the ambulance?? He ok??
As mentioned above Beauy knocked Ormond out of the finals with an inspiring come back from the dead to win by 10 points. Rob Cathcart kicked four for Beauy to help keep their finals hopes alive.
A couple of hours later Caulfield steamrolled premiership favourites Old Melb by 8 goals to get a week off and head into the Grand Final with the advantage of being able to heal their wounds (and there were a few niggles after yesterday). Cal Sinclair booted another bag for the Fields with five while Tim Baker (#24) was arguably the best player on ground.
it was all about the heckle down at brindisi street.. cgfc senior boys still flying the flag after a terrible season themselves... the shiney 19s brigade gave the boys something to cheer about. The guys that wears his socks high with shorts and the other guy with the big shi&*er were priceless.
Chris " i look 35" " tucky" Game was incredible through the middle. Daly all class being the biggest on baller to have played 19s, and The sliding sinclair had a reasonable day in front of goal.. shoulve been 2-3 more. But he was almost the key "difference". Cheapy Price was a rock over the 4 quarters. Their was a slippery character up forward that if he kicks straight is odds on for the medal on GF day.
CG boys can go up another gear too which is a scary thought for some of the outsiders at om's. The small spaces had a few.. not all, looking over the shoulder.

Callum ' The Chief/ Kitchen Sink' Siclair must be absolutely shattered about leaving Beauy; a team that is not full of stars, but plays like Sydney in it's premiership year, gelling together and playing full of passion and mateship On the other hand, Caulfield played for themselves with heads bigger than the titanic. On ya beauy boys, you are battlers, but bound together you were brilliant.
On that note, every team who was in the away change rooms at Brindisi St during finals, being the underdogs, won their match.
Says something about the favourites egos in the finals series.
Actually, Chief has played for Caulfield since he was 12.north of the river said:and for the Caulfield supporters to CHEER HIM behind the goals, what a friggin joke - like - yeah, we love him, his great - (who is he???? what's his name - didn't see him in Under 15's dah!).
and he kicked seven in the granny, kid got talent nor
