Now the pies are finished who and what will they target in the trade period, will the big fish ever come to the pies.

They will never land a "Big fish" because their trade reputation is not the best.

IE: They want the big players but never offer anything remotely close to optimal value.

Yeah, like Cameron Wood. The Pies needed a big, young ruck prospect and Wood was lacking for opportunities at the Lions. Unfortunately, the Pies tried to screw the Lions by offering their 4th round pick and Billy Morrison, so the Lions shut them down kung fu style.

Sound like your reality?

Anyway, the Pies will be after midfielders, which is why the Jon Brown/Ben McKinley talk seems very odd indeed. Allegedly we're making a play for Kerr, but I think that's unlikely too. I could see us trying to get Brent Reilly or Adam Thomson across from S.A., but all in all I think we'll have a pretty quiet trade period, where we perhaps offload 1-2 players and perhaps a "Ben Davies" style deal to get a player a new club for nothing (incidentally, another deal in which we we're sooooo unfair to opposition clubs, but don't let that distract you )

hahah fraser for pick 6? not a chance

Not actually sure we need a lot. Especially if we did get Cousins. When you look at our best 22 (if all fit) its pretty good with some exciting kids coming along. We will have depth and hence would be happy to keep the first rounder and use on a quality mid and wait 2 years for us to reap the benefits. If we do go for one then lets target Kerr.

B Clarke, Prestigiacomo, Goldsack
HB OBrien, Brown, Maxwell
C H.Shaw, B.Cousins, D.Thomas
HF A.Didak, T.Cloke, L.Davis
F P.Medhurst, J.Anthony, C.Dawes
Foll J.Fraser, S.Pendlebury
Rov D.Swan
Int J.McCarthy, T.Lockyer, S.Burns, A.Rocca (playing in short busts in ruck)
Depth R.Shaw, B.Reid, S.OBree, S.Wellingham, S.Rusling, B.Johnson, R.Cook, S.Rusling, S.Cox, J.Barham (who will be belting the door down next year for a game)

haha thats funny. oh ur serious... hmm, we have cameron wood and chris bryan on the list, why would we waste anthony rocca as a 'backup ruckman' when we have 2 players there who know how to play the position anyway.. rocca will be in the team for certain games, and when he is, he will be in the goal square.

Not sure they require much, probably another well skilled midfielder, Reilly or Knights

Dal Santo will be at Lexus Centre next year.

Mark it down.

Would fit in nicely but I cannot see the Saints trading him at all. Very much a required player.

I think a pretty quiet trade period for us. Maybe trading some guys for a later round pick.

for what i seen, maggies should get a skillful "quarter back" and so expositive midfielders. maybe mundy and cousins.

Please don't tell me you consider him a 'big fish'!?

204cm is a bloody big fish. Cameron though isn't one, granted. But it is evidence of a willingness on our behalf to part with fair trade value. I doubt Brisbane are complaining too much.

That is a myth perpetuated by the fact that according to the media, there has never been a player to come out of contract that wasn't offered a huge deal by Collingwood.

Of the big names traded in recent years, we've thrown our hat in the ring for two of them - Nathan Brown and Chris Judd.

In both cases, the player chose his destination before the trade period and we were never given a real chance to deal.

Name me one instance in which we actually prevented a deal from going through with a player who wanted to come from the club by refusing to offer a FAIR price.

Yes, we have refused to be bent over a barrel in a trade (i.e. the Nick Stevens deal, where Port were asking for Didak & pick 17), and we have even overpaid in some deals, but rarely have we actually missed out because of our refusal to meet the price.

What is considered fair trade for kerr?

they've said they want at least two picks in the top 5.. but if Kerr lets them know he wants to move (it'll be in house, doubt they'll make it public) i reckon a very good player but not elite elite (didak, dal santo etc.) plus a decent pick would be accepted.. i dono if WC fans agree with me but i reckon Dal Santo plus our first rounder is a fair deal.. perhaps 55-45% in W.C's favour which is what'll need to happen for them to let kerr go

Trust me, won't happen without a top 10 pick.

A fair trade is 2 1st round picks, 1 in the top 10.

Can't see him leaving. I'm thinking his manager is stirring some shit to get Kerr his 4 year extension.

Kerr just doesn't come across as the type to jump ship if a deal gets close to what he wants.

There will definately need to be a top 10 pick. Second pick may not have to be quite as high when it comes to...but still around 10-15

Our pick 11 may do but its going to have to be something of quality to get the next pick or player equivalent.

Best option for the next 1st round pick will be to use our second round pick and offer a player to trade up to first round. Going to be v hard I think.

Only salvation is that if he wants to go WCE will want to move him on this year as they run the risk of very little next year even if they can org a trade.

In the end i am not sure its worth the price we would have to pay

might be as funny as suggesting that Ben Johnson should be our capt hey!

Bryan has now played in 4-5 finals and been v ord in all......would have thought that he is not worth persisting with. Wood - if they committed to developing him I would be rapt but he aint there yet which is cool.

Can tell you Rocca is rated for his tap work down at lexus and did use to have a run in the ruck back in the day. Nothing to suggest he couldnt do 5 min bursts against teams # 2 ruckmen IMO.

i say Cousins should be there Number one, the need midfielders as they got enough forwards and backs, a very good midfielder is what they need

Up until the last couple years, I actually rated Rocca as our most effective ruckman. He only ever did it in short spurts, but he was actually very good. I doubt he could do it anymore though. Not with the ankles and achilles problems he's had.

Inside Mids....

Richetellie (sp) and Harris I would have thought

Harro is contracted. But... Lonie + Egan + 4th rounder plz
