Top Guys:

Chris Judd - Down to earth, Mr Nice Guy.

Michael Braun - Would do anything for you - one story - a family had just lost their daughter overseas in a car accident and wrote to the club that Brauny was her fave player. The next day he turned up on their door step with a signed poster and flowers in respect for the family. Huge effort if you ask me. The family were so gobb-smacked they didn't know how to thank him.

Jeremey Humm - Lovely guy.
Kasey Green - as above

Not so nice:

David Haynes - disrespectful, bad drunk, big head.

Really? After the training before the game here in York Park when the team where all getting back on the bus I found my car parked right next to the bus. I looked up and waved at some of the guys watching me and Haynes waved and stuck his thumb at me!
But I'll take ya word for it.

I got booed by an umpire in 99. It was during the grandfinal parade, the players are going past in the cars, everyones clapping, then along come the umps, everyone stops. For a bit of a laugh being right at the front I go "booe the umpires". Well the umps who are only 10 feet away from me by now, suddenly yell out "booe yourself mate". They, me plus everyone else laughed and said it was the first time they'd ever been able to booe the crowd!!
That's pretty funny.
There are some umpires who follow certain teams, especially when it is finals.
Was it a boundary umpire who booed you?

Played basketball against Peter Riccardi in the early nineties. What a dead set Corio dwelling, mullett haired, mocassin wearing bogon. Very arrogant and acted like a big tough man whenever he received some slight contact. Our team spanked his team of Kevins and Trevours every time we played them. Beautiful! A mate of mine went out with Riccardi's ex, and the stories i heard about how he treated her sounded about what i expected. I hear she's back with him now, must be a sucker for punishment.

Ricco was an arrogant prick back in the early 90's, but in the last 2-3 years he's matured and become a great guy.

The tragic death of his little sister after a long battle with cancer seemed to turn Peter around.

The guy now does an amazing amount of charity work, whilst he's very accomodating with supporters.

Talking past legends, i must say that Sam Newman is very much like his on-camera persona.
Very rude and egotistical.

Surprisingly, Robert Walls is a really nice guy. Can't stand his views on football, but after a chat with him in the lift at the G, i was impressed.

I walked past him outside the tennis centre after the 1997 Grand Final:

Me: It's a great day for footy Ba-rass!

Barassi: Yessssssss Yesssssssss.

I thought it was a nice measured reaction from Ron ;)

Is this because of personal experience or due to the rumour i read here saying Peter was accused of molesting a girl?

Sorry it was actually Sheehan in 1996.

Well, at the risk of speaking ill of the deceased, the biggest tosser in football I've encountered was Darren Millane, closely followed by Fraser Murphy (although he's not dead).

Last time I saw fraser brown was when he was in the casino off his head, bouncing off the walls as he walked to the nearest s**thouse.

Imperial, that was such acute story and reminded me of when I was a kid in Geelong. I n those days it was a much smaller town and everyone seemed to know someone who played for the Catters. I barrack for the Roos even a a little kid, but from the age of about 10 went to the footy with a friend as we were too little to be allowed to Melb by ourselves.

So many of the Cats guys were genuinelt sweet to the little kids and I must mention Jumping Jack Hawkins (who was my favourite Cat)..he was just a really decent guy!!

One of my big favs in the 1980's- 1990's was Scotty Mc Ivor while at Fitzroy. He was so sweet when he moved back up to Qld....one of the good guys.

On one flight back from Victoria to Qld I was sitting across the aisle from the Lions (White and Bradshaw)..I was crying as I had left my boyfriend at the time to return home and they were very kind and funny...it made the two hours bearable ..just. My husband worked for the Lions for 3 years (that's how we met, and he reckons Darryl White was one of the good guys!!)

From the mighty Roos, the two nicest I have met would be Glen Archer...just a gem in 1996 and Corey Mc Kernan (who I see got a negative mention) but was great to chat to and very giving of his time.

I saw Hirdy got a big negative from some people. Well years ago when he first came to Melb he was one a string of Essendon players who were billeted at my Mum's place in Moonee Ponds. Now this was obviously before the was a footy god, but he was still fairly well known, and he wa always very good to my little brother but hated even going down the road to get a CD as he just wanted to be left alone. Obviously my insane Bomber mother thinks he's a Doll and he was lovely to her after he won the Brownlow.....but she said the nicest boy she met was Gavin Wanganeen, who would come over for dinner and take off his shoes at the door and was just totally polite.

My negatives.....
from childhood.....Michael Turner at Geelong.....those people who grew up in Geelong at the time probably know why we weren't allowed to walk near his house.....
...I agree with Neville Bruns....

from adulthood........my greatest disappointment would be Wayne Carey...just rude on a mammoth scale. Yes I know he probably was way over the whole fan scenario after about year 4 at the Roos, but he made a truck load of money out of our club and being polite costs nothing....
..I'm a teacher and trust me it's not always easy to treat teenagers kindly when you're having a bad day....but you do it because it's not your job, but the right thing to do......
.....I saw him be really rude to little kids and that's just not on....

Funny thread this one, feel a little funny adding to it but here goes!!!

Mark Dragacevic is a top bloke just a champion all round.

Jonny Barker is a laugh and legend bloke to have a chat with as is Chance Bateman very similiur them 2.

Mills from Richmond is a complete legend but ive also found and some people will disagree but Kayne Pettifer is a realy good bloke.

Adrian Cox is a tossa and so is Cam Faulkner not a real fan of him!!!

Nice - Leigh Colbert, Gary Ablett, Garry Hocking, John Barnes.

Garry Hocking is one of the nicest blokes I've ever met.

I ran into him in a supermarket while he was doing a promotion, and I was literally shaking. I idolised this guy - he, Bairstow and Ablett were like heroes to me. The Geelong team of the early 90's were must-see material.

I was barely 7-8 at the time, and he took all the time in the world to ask me about schooling, footy, who I supported, etc.

Then pulled out this massive Geelong poster and signed it for me, with a short message, I was friggen wrapt.

That was over a decade ago, but I will always treasure that. An absolute champion. Can't think of a better bloke.

Tony Lockett was an arseh*le at St Kilda. Apparently he has improved since then, but he's a dill of a bloke.

Hmmm...more ****ers...

Leigh Montagna is a bit full of himself. Can't blame him, we badgered the poor guy out of Moorabbin :p

Sounds like the Bhudda i know. Lovely man, complete opposite to his on-field persona.

Plugger is a nice person. So you are right about him improving.
I got his autograph and he didn't seem to mind.

Other tools I have met

Barry Hall
The Krackeour brothers
Neville Bruns

At a footy clinic up in Mildura. I was in grade 2 in 1986.

Dale Weightman was there.

Best: Greg Tivendale, Andrew Mills, Craig Biddiscombe, Matthew Robran, Wayne Campbell (at times), Derek Murray was great when he was at Port, Adam Heuskes (****head but good value when hes on it). David Rodan seems liek a great guy too but i have never spoken to him myself, jsut rate the way he goes about conversing wiht people.)

Worst: Billy Nicholls (didnt rate the way i saw him treat one particular fella).

Nicest:

Simon Minton-Connell
Matthew Armstrong
Stephen Powell
Steve Wallis
Chris Grant
Ron Barrassi
Nigel Kellett

Rudest:
Mark Taylor. I don't remember any footballers ever really being rude to me. Tony Shaw annoyed me once, but since then, I've got the impression he's not too bad
