I don't think Medhurst is the key to Cloke playing well. Having a less predictable foward line helps of course. I have said since Rocca a fit Medhurst has been our number one foward.
What I think has shown in the last couple of weeks is Cloke looks a lot more dangerous when he gets some time deep. Having Cloke and Ja rotating through the deep and CHF roles a little like the way Roughhead and Franklin do will probably be ideal.
I have said for a while I think Cloke will be better served playing deeper and I don't think there is much of a coincedence that he has started looking more dangerous since he has been spending a bit more time inside foward 50. The think the last 2 weeks his played the best football of his year, most of that good work has been done inside the 50.

Cloke did not deviate from his line and the whole time had eyes only for the ball, you can see his head turn towards the oncoming player just as the footy hit his fingers. He wouldn't be sure what was coming, in fact it was Tarrant that sidestepped just b4 a collision.
I think you are the one that needs to be dropped, Gent.
I saw it again last night Spade and I stand by it.
He does it off and on and has for all his career.
The wost one was at WCE at Telstra a few years ago when he ducked thinking someone was going to hit him when he went to mark and he was 20 metres clear of anyone.
I would seriously consider trading him at year's end while others still consider him worth something, like we did with Tarrant.
I think you are seeing what you would like to see.
Specifically versus Freo, Cloke was throwing his body in fearlessly t every contest he could. Made at least one bone jarring tackle and presented every time the ball was there to be got. Through himself into packs on the ground.
I don't know what you expect of the bloke to be honest.
I have never once in all the games and numerous replays I have watched of each seen Travis Cloke shirk a contest.
You have a personal dislike fair enough, but don't use fiction to strengthen your position.
If you reckon you've got proof then gimme the time on the replay and I'll have another (3rd) look.
I haven't chronicled them so I cant point to all of them. But we played WCE at Telstra one afternoon in 2006 IIRC, he did it in the second or third quarter that day.
He has done it quite often and he admitted it in a newspaper article that early on he did it.
My point is he is still doing it. When I say he is doing it I dont say EVERY time but he does do it.
Just like I pointed out Woewodin did it and everyone lampooned me and then lo and behold he did it in the 2003 GF.
But I digress. I dont say it for Cloke because I hate him. I loved his old man and I loved JClo for a while.
Travis is flawed. He won a Copeland when others were ahead of him and it was the biggest shock win since Wes Fellows won it in 1986 and Trevor Steer in 1965.
Just watch him more carefully in future.
Having played for 25 years I know it is easy to judge.
A humans first instinct is self preservation and reflex movements hinting at this biological imperative are evident in even the most courageous of acts.
The reality is that our game, as it is now, with acts like Reiwold's mark running back with the flight and colliding with two rapidly approaching players, sets the standards of what is courageous so incredibly high that common acts are scrutinised over zealously by those never in a position to perform them.
I have never noticed Travis Cloke shirk an issue.
And I watch a lot of footy.
I go every week and have in fact after the Freo game on the week end I have attended 777 Collingwood games since 1965.
I have commented on this issue on other boards over the years so may try to find when I have commented.
Also at a Club 42 function in 2006 Wayne Carey said that Travis did it as well. He said it was because of the facial surgery he had and also his lack of body strength at the time.
Maybe.
I cant convince you of what he has done, but just watch in future. He will take a short step.
Not every time. And everyone takes a short step at some time. But he has done it too often for me at least to ignore.
I will try to point them out ot you if and when they occur in future.
Nice record of attendance but I don't think too many of those games would be relevant to the argument.
Wayne Carey...sorry I don't have a second for anything he might say on any subject, specifically anything to do with knocking a Collingwood player.
We should just leave it there I think.
As I said you think what suits you.
