With Buckley saying No I believe Scott burns to be equally creditialled as Buckley .. He has a fantastic outlook on footy very intelligent person very respected in the football world (given a job at West coast paying 300k) He has played under both Buckley and Malthouse. played in finals grandfinals . He was a fantastic competetor and respected player . Captained the club and has a year as assistant under his belt . Lets get him !!!

Bold statement.

Bold statement.

Nothing bold about it ... Factual he was a great player very under rated .A great footy brain and very clever person .was vice captain under Buckley and captain in his own right played under malthouse and buckley for majority of creeer so what buckley learnt i assume Burns would have to being vice captain.

Surely there's a Cloke or Shaw who also played the majority of his career under Malthouse and Buckley.

I was right behind the Bucks push but we now have to play the field. It is a very hard choice for the club and comes with a lot of risks. I don't envy them the decision. Must be bloody tough to narrow the search to 5 or so people and then weigh them up against each other and what the club wants.

Good luck to the coaching task force - they have a tough job.

Not so bold, that one.

Whats the attraction with Collingwood people biggest under achievers around.:DWould think that L Mathews would be a better teacher than Malthouse

nah, i want Ricciuto, was just suggesting that i thought Brown would be along similar lines to Burns.

The next best thing to Buckley, i.e. better, are a dozen candidates already well documented. Burns would be slightly outside that fringe of a dozen candidates.

We will be above the standard of Buckley now that the process will be followed. No need to go backwards with Burns.

you get the impression that Burns wants to follow the traditional path of being an assistant coach for a while........there arent many that have the confidence/ego of a Bucks who can step straight in.........

the sub committee will have a tough job..........do you go for a career assistant at the one club (like a hinkley) or someone who has moved and gained experience in a number of different environments (like a blakey).....

Im a little nervous about this process........sounds like Roos is confident that Horse may not be interested (seeing succession planning is now the flavor of the month you can expect Horse, Hinkley and Hardwick to pick the heir apparent for their respective clubs)........

Not sure who that leaves..........Brad Scott and Mark Neeld seem to have wraps and one of them may be unemployed soon......

not interested in O donnell or Bond or any of the usual suspects who have been assistants for a thousand years....

going to be interesting!

Including Buckley from what I've seen.

So you want to swamp Burns for laidley.
Not sure Burns is ready for the top job just yet but he would certainly fit your clubs shinboner spirit

This isn't even "straight through to the keeper"

I think "clean bowled" would be more apt.

One from left field that has nor been mentioned is Peter German. A premiership coach at Burnie and Subiaco. AFL assistant coach at Hawthorn and Fremantle. Currently coaching Casey Scorpions who sit 2nd on the ladder. A former North Melbourne player. Who has a great record in developing players.

Yes, I've heard PG speak to the players a few times on the ABC coverage. He's pretty impressive.
