Songs That Sound A Little Too Similar

One that hasn't been mentioned yet that I think should have been mentioned is "The Importance of Being Idle" by Oasis. It sounds so much like "Dead end Street" by The Kinks. Of course I could have easily started a new thread (if one doesn't exist already) about Oasis songs that sound like other songs. So many of their songs are rip offs but the Oasis fanboys on this site would never admit to it. They are right up there with Jet as the biggest thieves of music.

Does anyone else think that there are similarities between:

The Cure - Close to Me
and
George Michael - Faith

The bassline sounds very similar, as well as the clapping sounds.

Yeah, good call. I love Franz Ferdinand but this is about as blatant as it gets.

Kraftwerk - The Model

Franz - Walk Away

A Certain Romance by Arctic Monkeys has been stolen by that shit little band with teenagers and a large girl in it. Don't know the song and can't remember the name of the shocking band.

So your username is a reference to Oasis then? ;)

has anyone noticed the similarity in the rhythm and melody of Sex on Fire by Kings on Leon and Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark?

for a more obscure observation:
nick cave's lay down here and be my girl from the abattoir blues ep sounds alot like david bowie's Cat people [diggin in the dirt]

Doubt any of you will have ever noticed this, but i listen to too much music.

The intro of Aussie metal band Daysend's album The Warning (2007) sounds very similar at one point to the intro of the EPIC metal album The New Order by Testament. That's all.

I think the Flaming Lips are paying royalties for this one

The Flaming Lips - Fight Test

Magnificent song, but very similar to this:

Cat Stevens - Father And Son

Zakk Wylde - Sould My Soul intro:

Sounds very very very similar to part of the intro to this

Metallica - (Welcome Home) Sanitarium

Around 20 Seconds in.

Knights of Cydonia - Muse

The Age of the Understatement - Last Shadow Puppets

I found Mudhoney's 'Suck You Dry' to bear a striking resemblence to the Stooges 'Shake Appeal'.

might not be the best quality as i couldn't find the studio mix

Not that I don't like Mudhoney but many of their songs bear a striking resemblence to Stooges songs.

Jet release a new song and another rip off is born.

Let's see if you can spot what song they rip off with their opening riff..

Probably not the song you're thinking of but that riff sounds alot like the riff during the first chorus in this song:

Not rage's greatest song but still sounds similar to me.

Edit: I have come to the same conclusion about Rage's Bull's on parade. Not sure what song yu were thinking of but my guess is it's a rage song. Or the Beatles. Jet love to rip off the Beatles

This one is pretty blatent by Nirvana. Their hit 'Come As You Are' is almost exactly the same just slower than the Killing Joke's 'Eighties'. I think the Killing Joke wanted to take Kurt to court over this but when he died they dropped their case. Dave Grohl also played on one of their later albums.

Here's a new one:

MPHO - Box N Locks

Martha & The Muffins - Echo Beach

Which is all really just a rip of of Classical Gas

Mason Williams - Classical Gas

The Decemberists - We Both Go Down Together

Sounds very similar to -
REM - Losing My Religion

Deep Purple's "Child in Time" first appeared on an album released in 1970--this song appeared on an album released in 1969.
