Songs That Sound A Little Too Similar

Satisfaction (Rolling Stones) and Mr Soul (Buffalo Springfield)

I Was Made For Loving You (Kiss) and Outlaw Pete (Bruce Springsteen)

Can anyone else hear the similarity in the opening riff, or am I the only one?

David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World

Eskimo Joe - Foreign Land

I mean, if you account for the fact that Eskimo Joe were purposefully wanky with the zurna in the intro, but there's a definite similarity, right?

Shouldn't be on this thread, Vanilla Ice paid to sample the bassline of Under Pressure.
Completely different to two different bands making two songs that sound the same.
The best example is this one of Jet. I laughed at the part at the end that said I know their is more examples but I do not want to listen to anymore Jet songs.
Putrid band

Listening to Jet is like listening to an Iggy Pop best of ran through a scratched CD

Think this was pretty well known in Britpop circles through the mid 90s but may as well post it...

Wire's 'Three Girl Rhumba' (1977)

Elastica's 'Connection' (1994)

Elastica would claim their music was a homage, which might be the nice way of saying 'we're ripping you off'.

I like both songs though - of course, they are essentially the same tune. *LOL*

Is it just me or does the opening riff of H&C's Holy Grail sound like Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror ?
(not to mention the rest of Holy Grail sound like Wild Thing)

I reckon Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harlem and When a Man Loves A Woman by Percy Sledge sound very familiar...

"Great intro, uh?" - "They nicked it from Marvin Gaye." - "He nicked it from Bach!"

A Perfect Circle- Judith

Deadsoul Tribe- Lost In You

The winner has to be The Offspring "Why Don't You Get a Job" ripping off The Beatles. It's the same freaking song. I don't know how they got away with it.

Paul and Ringo were probably too embarrassed to claim the original as theirs. Obladioblada is as awful as a cockroach, and I think the line was 'YEESH just DO SOMETHING WITH IT!'

Jet release a new song and another rip off is born.

Let's see if you can spot what song they rip off with their opening riff..

Kings of Leon - Manhattan.

Oasis - Go Let It Out.

The kings of leon have ripped off the distinctive bass hook from the 2000 Oasis song Go Let It out. You might struggle to hear the bass hook in the oasis song on your poor computer speakers but it is clear that the Kings of Leon ripped off the song. OVer-rated band too/

I think youll find this is an actual 'cover' version of the song, not a direct ripoff per se.

Pink - U + Ur Hand
The Veronicas - Forever

I was so taken aback when I discovered this similarity I dropped my sack of lollipops and almost got hit by a number of cars travelling at 25 km/h...

I wished more people understood just how putrid Jet are.....they make me cringe.....I wish they would just go away.

Does anyone else think that there are similarities between:

The Cure - Close to Me
and
George Michael - Faith

The bassline sounds very similar, as well as the clapping sounds.
