As an impartial observer, let me tell you that Beams rarely makes a mistake, whereas Pears has been an absolute spud at times - e.g. vs West Coast at Subi. Pears is similar to Collingwood's Nathan Brown last year. Inconsistent, but showing promise. Beams has been outstanding for a first year player right from the preseason.

I like tayte pears but this year beams has had a fantastic season including his last 4 weeks were he has kiled it. Pears will be a solid defender for the future though for sure.

Is this serious, beams is winning? Don't get me wrong beams has had a very good year but pears has been unbelievable. Midfielders get more stats (and recognition for that matter) than defenders but pears is only 19 and is playing on the likes of roughead, brown, fevola, riewoldt & bradshaw. fullback is probabily the hardest position to play on, especially as a young player and pears has done do with flying colours.

I know I'm a bit biased but I firmly believe pears has had the better year. Look at the bigger picture pears had played all games and has done more important jobs for his team than beams has.
