Yeah, I wish he stayed, but for his own good (especially international career), he simply had to leave as he was never ever going to get in front of Nando in the side.

Yeah but what's funny is that he sits on the pine at Tottenham too. His England career is going nowhere. The donkey is loved by Capello and C.Cole, the sex machine that he is will no doubt be in the WC plans.

He's played a lot more games for Spurs thus far than he would have with us (and he's started a few of them too), there's no way he'd start any games for us (except the League Cup tie).

He's performing okay at Tottenham, linking up well with Defoe (not so much Keano).

But you're right, Capello loves Heskey (and to a lesser extent Colezilla) but Darren Bent will end up forcing his way into the squad by the time the season is over if he keeps scoring like he is. So Crouch will probably miss out altogether, but I think it's the fact that he gets on so well with Redknapp and Harry clearly rates Crouchy, so that'd help him at Spurs if he's starting as many games as possible.

The thing I don't understand is they have already qualified, there is no need to play their best players.

Why can't they experiment with something like Negredo and Guiza upfront and try some of their other fringe players. There is simply no need for Nando to be playing.

Probably because they still get ranking points, and the people in Spain wouldn't be too happy if they lost to Armenia or Bosnia, regardless of how 'irrelevant' the matches are.

There's no such thing as an irrelevant football match.

Oh but there is pal.

Like this Spanish WC Qualifier.

nemeth scored a double for hungary under 20 against an 8 man italy side, with goals in the 112th and 117th minute

Saw that, very good from to score some important goals at an important time (even if it was against 8 men).

He probably should be with the senior squad though as they prepare to play Portugal in Lisbon tonight.

We could be up against a familiar face when we travel to Sunderland next weekend.

Bolo Zenden is currently training with them and hopes to have secured a contract in time to be registered to play on the weekend.

He's 33 now and left Marseille when they didn't renew his contract and hasn't been playing apparently.

Watching the friendly tonight and cant believe we didn't get Sneijder in the Alonso deal

Babel continuing his good form. Playing as a striker and not looking bad. Might want to give him a go next to Torres and Gerrard back to CM?

He's a gun striker, but Torres up front by himself is just our strength, although I certainly would not complain if Babel was thrown up their for a game.

He was their biggest goal threat in the end, looked great with some nice little runs and touches.

Torres played 54 minutes for Espananana. He failed to score again.

Pepe played 90 minutes

Riera was an unused sub.

Probably had to come off injured too. With Kuyt/Babel having the long trip back from Oz, Masch/Insua/Loosercus not getting back from South America until Friday, we might be a tad short of numbers for Sunderland.

Get in Jay Spearing! :D

Agreed. And Wesley Sneijder is a gun, who absolutely bossed the Australian midfield. It's disgraceful that Rafa never went harder for him.

Who says he didn't?

Liverpool isn't exactly a desirable place to live for a lot of continental footballers.

Excellent footballer, but let's not judge him because he bossed complete plodders like Culina, Grella and Valeri! :D

Babel was terrible from what I saw (granted it was not very much, but terrible is terrible).

No he wasn't.

Did some excellent things, but then delivered the ball with customary Babel ineffectiveness.

Game didn't exactly suit him either, with every Australian player sat back on the edge of the 18 yard box.

Work in progress. Looks a lot better when played through the middle though.

You're kidding, right?

What could Liverpool have offered Wesley Sneijder?

1. Guaranteed starter in the midfield. (He'd only have Lucas to compete with).
2. Opportunity to win titles with a highly successful and very famous team that had recently made two Champions league finals (and won one) and finished second in last seasons EPL - and United were now minus Ronaldo.
3. Opportunity to play with two world class players in Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.
4. Opportunity to play with two Dutch compatriots in Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel.
5. He wouldn't have to learn a new language, as English is mandatory in Dutch primary schools.

Being an Inter fan, I watch every Inter game I can, and I can tell you Wesley Sneijder is bossing quite a few midfields at the moment.

You're primarily talking football. I'm talking lifestyle.

Here's hoping for an England win then.. For Croatia! They better not throw the game to knock us out...

:D

Unlucky.....

I wouldn't take TIG's opinion seriously.

We saw 20 minutes of the match, max.
