News Jeffrey Garlett nominated rookie

Whilst Ratts pretty much confirmed it in his Q&A and it comes as no surprise to most of us, the Hun in a story about Hitchcock getting the nod ahead of Cloke at PA, the HUN lists other nominated rookies and Jeffrey is one of them.

There is no mention of it on either the AFL or Carlton websites so it may not be 100% done yet and the HUN are just making an assumption, but if not then congrats Jeffrey.

Yes they play an interesting brand, I watched the Tiwi Island GF on ABC tv on Sunday, (the commercial stations play AFL games at midnight up here but the ABC god love em, play the Tiwi gf LIVE!!!!!!)

It was pissin with rain and these boys handle it like its bone dry, clean picking up at full tilt or a tap along and bounce up as they accelerate, great to watch, but hectic.

I think many of us have been looking forward to seeing Eddie, GJ and Yazz all working in the same team and seeing what if any third eye stuff these boys can string together.

The guy from the Tigers running the ball out of half back who took four bounces both times in that last quarter was great to watch.

I didnt see the medal presentation but did hear his name called out during the call of the game.

I kept hoping airplane would kick some amazing goal and do his celebration that the commentators kept going on about.

And what was up with the teeth on the young interviewer at half time, talking to Sheeds and others. How are his teeth so bad so young and why wouldnt he get em fixed for TV.....great head for radio though!

Loved the telecast, real footy, loved it. Thanks ABC. Might get up there one day and watch some live.

I kept hoping airplane would kick some amazing goal and do his celebration that the commentators kept going on about.

Pretty sure it was him that got the free late in the third or early in the fourth for a high tackle right in front of goal. He kicked it and did his celebration and some of the kids in the cheer squad tried to run onto the ground. The commentators loved it, they were more excitable than those guys watching Kurt Tippet the other day.

Not sure if I understand it correctly, but the way I read it was that we had by 2PM yesterday to nominate rookies to make up the numbers because we have no veterens. By that it sounds like we had to nominate up to 2 rookies by 2pm yesterday or we don't get the chance again unless it is through a player being placed on the long term injury list.

Does anyone know the way replacing rookies to top up a list due to no veterens works?

Agree with you HBF. What it does show (particularly in light that none of the rookies played any pre season games, except against WC) that the MC doesn't believe any of these rookies are quite up to it at this stage.

That is my understanding too on the nominated rookie rule. Why would there be a cut off time and date if you could just elevate a rookie at any time. The way i see it is we can now only upgrade a rookie by the LTI rule or after round 11 when all teams can upgrade.
