Not fussed on the actual award but I'm pleased his work has been officially recognised.

Plenty of youngsters burst onto the scene with a high possesion game but our bloke has been in the centre circle, bashing up 100 to 200 game midfield men right from round 1.
His clearance work is outstanding and FFS he is an 18 year old!!!!! :eek:

Good whispers about his future intentions as well...

I still don't know if he's eligible or not... heard both sides. Can anyone 100% confirm?

About an hour ago the Richmond FC facebook page posted a congratulations:

Dustin Martin is this week's NAB Rising Star nominee for his performance against Port on the weekend. Unfortunately he is ineligible to win the award after accepting a reprimand earlier this year. But a fine achievement regardless!

Ahh, I see. You'd think the Richmond FC would know whether or not one of your own can win then I guess.

That's a bit of a shame, really. Surely if you get weeks you shouldn't be able to win but if it's just a reprimand then who cares?

Oh well, let's just hope we can get a few more Tigers on the list!

Yeah it's pretty stupid. He's eligible next year, right? Or is there a game limit they have to be under? Can't remember.

Blame the club. Absolutely ridiculous they accepted the reprimand and should have challenged it. There was nothing in it. What were they thinking? They weren't.
Congrats Dustin. One small achievement in a long list of future accolades.:thumbsu:

he is still eligble if he has been reprmanded as is any player who gets reprimanded is eligible for the brownlow... if he was to get weeks then he wouldn't be able to get the rising star

Very well deserved by the young bloke, there was no way that clown from Melb was going to get it after one game especially after we won

I doubt the RFC facebook is run by anyone of any authority within the club or from the club at all.

At the end of the day i'm going to take the word of the bookies who are still accepting bets on him to win

the club and journos you can see getting things wrong, but the bookies could you imagine the revolt that would occur if they were taking bets off people when he was inelligible.

Congrats Dusty - you've been rewarded with consitency and tenacity playing a demanding role in the midfield as an in and under. This task is made all the more challenging in a side that has lost its first 9 and contains a very young list.

Well done for being a truly tenacious tiger that is committed to the cause.

Thanks in advance for sticking fat with the tigers despite mountains of cash from the parasite newcomers.

You truly are a player who is selfless - one that we can build a side around.

Dustin is ineligible for the Rising Star award as he pleaded guilty to a reportable offence that carried a 1 game suspension, as for the bookies I think you will find that they don't actually take bets on the Rising Star as the award is voted on by a handful of people it would be too easy for them to get stung. They just offer up odds as a guide

Does anyone know if Benny is too old to get a nomination. I wonder if Dusty hadn't have earnt one of Saturday if Nason's three goals would have been enough to figure him into calculations?

My bet is it was his decision as much as anyone's not to challenge the MRP decision.

Depends on who you look at Sterge. I backed him prior to the NAB Cup with Sportingbet at $10 (NicNat was at $2.20). Following his reprimand, I went to check his odds and noted that he had been removed from the board. Still wasn't there 2 weeks ago on Sportingbet, Centrebet or Luxbet when I went to back Hannebery. Now you're saying he is back on the board?

May give Sullivan's mob a call. I thought my Martin bet was finished?

I'm not, he's been consistent. his game v Swans in Rd 3 was outstanding but that week he was unlucky as Bastinac won it. The weekly Award in 2010 has been won 90% of times by players on winning teams. Not sure whether that is purely coincidence.

Not sure, but it would sure make all those commentators who bag him for being "too small" eat humble pie.
