To be honest you state this as a fact when in fact he has a great set of hands and reads the play really well. if the ball is kicked to him he will mark it or bring it to ground. T-bird has done enough to shut the people who dislike him up but they still mouth off no matter what.

It is a fact - name some games when he has performed well when we have struggled or been in a tight contest, playing as a forward. I don't mind him but he's not a forward.

Bower on the plane?

Can't see the point in bringing him into the side. I don't think he is in good enough form!!

Maybe we will just leave him in Perth and hope for a trade as some of you suggested.
Probably bringing him over to arrange for a deal with WCE/Freo.

We learnt our lesson with not having a tall emergency in the end after countless times Jamo/Waite have gone out and we've brought a small in.

This probably isn't even the right thread, but it's absolutely astonishing that Zac Tuohy could play this week and we have absolutely no qualms about it whatsoever.
The guy has played about 40 (?) games of Australian Football in his life.

Something special.

I know this may sound dodgey. But I wouldn't rule out Gibbs yet. No flight today maybe to get an extra 24 hours recovery in his shoulder before the flight over. A light-moderate AC sprain can't keep him out surely?

I just don't think Ratten's comments sounded like mind games.
Saying "one knock and we'd be a man down" would just be inviting players to run through him if he actually did line up.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

I think it's time to give up on Gibbs playing. I was hopeful all week that we were playing mind games and sucked the media in. Maybe we are not being honest about the injury once again and there is more to this injury than just an AC sprain. An AC sprain you play in a final as simple as that. Buddy looks like getting up and Gibbs doesn't???

Gibba was looking likely y'day but is still sore and wont be risked. If the game was in Melbourne he would have played.

Talk of possible rain Saturday, possibly 10-20mm; what will that do to selection??

Highly doubt Hampson will come in if it is raining.

There was talks of rain last Sunday as well, yet we nearly had a full game of sunshine. You pick your best side suited to combat against the opposition, not the weather.

I've had shoulder issues in the past playing footy, can be fine to get around with, but one solid knock on it and you can't lift you arm above your shoulder. Would be a complete liability if he played, would get shoulder to shoulder contact before the first bounce, and rightfully so.

I bloody hope there is rain Wookie, they were bloody hopeless in the rain against the Lions late in the year. Still would bring in Hampson because Carlos simply can not go with NikNat

Fox sports just reported Cox is in doubt - didn't train

But Kerr will most definitely play.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

with the way our less favored players of the year have been playing in recent weeks (setanta/warnock/thornton) we should have had both hampson and mclean come in. odds are they would have played blinders. Austin would have broken Fred Fannings record at full forward.

Perfect. Agree wholeheartedly. A lot of people must barely watch a game to say things like that. In our top few for most improved this year.

Also starting to do a bit of link work out on the wings utilising his marking power seeing as our ruckman can't take a contested grab.

Personally I'm liking him forward/working up the ground moreso than down back.

Too big of a loss with Gibbs, funny thing is with an Ac sprain you jab to numb the pain and play. I would say it is more sinister than that, Kreuzer they know what is wrong him, cmon it has been two weeks and they still don"t know!

Be best to get used to not having Waite, Kreuzer not Gibbs for this finals series, if it extends beyond Saturday.

Agree something else is clearly wrong my guess gone for the season.

I have had terrible AC injuries and played with a jab.
