Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

I know this may sound dodgey. But I wouldn't rule out Gibbs yet. No flight today maybe to get an extra 24 hours recovery in his shoulder before the flight over. A light-moderate AC sprain can't keep him out surely?

When you really think about what Ratts said earlier in the week, you can understand why they havn't taken him. Consider:

West Coast players reportedly under injury cloud:
Cox, Kerr, Glass, Kennedy
(only two of those probably true, though)

Carlton players reportedly under injury cloud:
Gibbs

Now if we take our only player who as a question mark to his name in to such an important game, it can have serious consequences. Let's say Cox plays and gets injured during the 1st/2nd, that's a huge advantage to us on a big ground such as subi. Say Gibbs gets hip-and-shouldered two minutes later and has to come off, that advantage is gone.

We can't carry anyone in to this game, no matter how minor their injury may be.

Talk of possible rain Saturday, possibly 10-20mm

ah I dont know where you heard that  Rain is meant to hold off on Saturday. If it does rain they are saying 1mm. Check BoM, they say 1mm as well

I would be amazed if there is a player that plays on the weekend (from both teams) that isn't carry any sort of niggle/injury.
Our captain is the perfect example, something's clearly not right.

Or is it that Hawthorn, St Kilda and Essendon have found a way to reduce his influence? That is the problem and he has no injury problems.

Other than Brownlow votes what was his incentive in any of those games?

I'm tipping BOG by a street.

I was following him really closely on the weekend and he was labouring pretty much 10-15 mins into the game. Watch him when he runs off the ground, he looks like he is running on the spot. Hopefully a few days away from Oscar can rejuvenate him and we see a vintage game from juddman this weekend!:thumbsu:

What's having a baby have to do with him being tired? Surely he isn't that sleep deprived!

Its a long season, he's a bit tired and he perhaps is letting others pull their weight.

Yes, but as has been said, how may of those niggles/injuries have been publicized? Gibbs could very well have been targeted with that shoulder, especially if West Coast lose a player early on.

Will need someone to substitute Gibba's marks and i50 kicks. Tuohy back, Yaz delivering i50 and Thornton playing high up with Hammer up forward alongside Carlos

McKenzie (who ever he is) is also under a cloud. Hasn't trained all week.

Was close to bog against us last time. Was marking all our kicks inside 50. Would be happy to see him out!

AFTER being cut to shreds by Collingwood defender Leon Davis last week, West Coast will try to reverse the trend by exposing Carlton rebounder Chris Yarran in Saturday night's semi-final in Perth.

good luck with that.

Will he be playing down back Shmurf? Or moved forward to the wing?

You'd think play him where he has dominated all year. If shut down, give him a crack up fwd?

You would think so. But you never know, could throw the Coasters off quite a bit. Plus i think he would be a good match-up for Hurn.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

The point with Judd is he looks tired, plus the way those teams are trying to stop him should have cost them, they were playing a guy to block him at stoppages but also bringing up one of their flankers to block his run away from stoppages when he got out. For some reason in the St.Kilda and Hawthorn games we showed very little rebound off HB and couldn't win despite having a loose man down back. When they changed this in the 2nd half against Hawthorn and went man on man we got right back in it.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

Tuohy to half forward and run with Hurn...Zach has the size and pace to go with the Eagle...I wouldn't be against rolling that dice to keep Yarran at half back...Tuohy has the skill to hurt them if he's free...Lovely pass to Hampson and finish on the run to produce two goals for the Bullants last week...Ask their new backline coach Teague who rates Tuohy's disposal.
