Didn't see the press conference but from the summaries here he sounds brilliant.

Only thing I don't like is the comment about entertaining football not always bringing success, and the comments about a focus on defense. Will be interesting to see how this looks on field and what he actually means. One of the things I hated about Craig was the ultra-defensive, ugly brand of football where we would chip the ball to each other in the backline for 15 minutes. Hated it! Will be interesting to see exactly what Brenton means.

Everything else he said I absolutely love. Bring on the tough contested footy! I'm not expecting quick success, but I can't wait for next season.

Some of these journo's can't possibly expect him to answer some of those questions. I mean is really going to say who on the playing list is gone, He just got here FFS. He needs to analyse the list and discus with people who are in depth with that knowledge.

Did you see the Ross Lyon presser? There were very few questions, it was just unrestrained vitriol. Incredible.

Physical ruthless football is great, but there's no way that's gonna happen with the twigs we have running out there.

We need a new strength and conditioning program as a priority and please put those bikes away and shwerdt with them

Despite reports that he may stay at Geelong until the end of their finals race, Sanderson has claimed that he'll start work "immediately this press conference is over".

Sanderson spoke very well I thought. He's already got his catchphrases (he used the word "spike" about ten times ) but I like him :thumbsu: Has signed for three years.

I missed the presser so thank yo very much for the summary. It's really appreciated.

He made no apologies for aiming for a premiership, playing hard, ruthless football. He isn't aiming to be competitive, but to win a premiership. Good, because teams that aim to make the finals do just that. However that is step 1, next is to plan to do that and then execute. I think one flaw of Craig was for us to play competitive football and improve. That is all well and good but not the goal we should accept at the afc.

he won't last long if he starts promising premierships - even promising a top 4 berth was the beginning of the end for Craigy

Great summary there, that's exactly how i feel:thumbsu:

Very solid start from Sanderson at the presser...showed he wont have too many troubles with our C grade journo's.

He's a real baby faced assassin. One of my concerns was whether, despite his excellent character, would he have the grunt to pull the reins and get tough on people when required as opposed to always being 'lovey-dovey'. He has allieviated my concerns because after watching that I've got no doubt he will demand plenty and you'll be told in no uncertain terms if you're not meeting the mark:thumbsu:

He spoke of an upward spike, but I'm willing to wait till 2013 for that if necessary because i predict it will take a year to get his 'dream' coaching panel after sifting through some current members in 2012 (hopefully they will surprise us and I'm glad Bicks is staying), a year to sort through his list management (some calls will be obvious now, but others will be given another chance for a year to thrive under Sando), and a year to get his culture and game plan stamped on our team.

So for mine, 2012 will be a testing out of some new, some old...a hybrid system before settling into a bright future from 2013. Having said that, i really hope he gets a head start on assembling the best coaching panel possible for this year. We desperately need a couple new faces at least.

Overall, I loved that he exuded grit, determination, confidence, assuredness. Maybe our club will start living up to its motto once more.

:thumbsu: Well said. I would imagine, with so much to change that there would be a period before everything fell into place. New game plan, new philosophy, new structure, new coaches, out with the deadwood, all this takes time. It's not the same situation as Geelong who were just off the pace and needed some tweaks to get back. I predict a year to find out where we are at and to get things ready for climb back into contention.

He's a pretty confident individual.

There's a sense of "This is how it's done, boys, It's my way, it's a proven way, and if you do it this way and trust me, you will have success."

Reminds of me that guy who lives on the G.C and plays golf a lot.......

Has won me over already:thumbsu:

Sounded like a Scott brother clone.....

Very very impressed. If I had actually heard him speak before I probably would of preferred him over Neeld..... Hopefully everyone from the players to the supporters give this bloke every opportunity.

Just shows how little we know about the candidates (and process) and yet are so willing to publicly condemn or praise them.

In short, he refused to answer the questions he is not yet in a position to answer, but answered everything else directly. Very nice :thumbsu:

I like this about him already.:thumbsu:

I was shocked to hear he got the job because I, like a lot of people, had been seduced by what the Burns 'model' might offer. Now he just needs some tough assistant coaches which means jettisonning most of what weve got now.
