To those posters suggesting that Clark isn't the exact type of power forward that we need, please provide some names of power forwards who are available for trade.

There aren't any. If you're lucky enough to have one, you hold on to them with both hands. Clark might be a bit more of an athletic forward than an old-fashioned brute, but that doesn't mean that he can't play a very important role for us. He has a massive frame and very good ability. Him in the goalsquare, Watts at centre half forward and Jurrah and Howe roaming the 50 is mouth watering.

I'd heard that he was contracted for another year which is incorrect it seems.

He's got one year to run on his contract so he'll play for them next season if they can't accommodate a trade. That is unless of course he'd be willing to sit out for one season.

Guys, just to confirm Clark is definately out of contract.

Personally, would prefer u guys land him...Freo have been acting like real amateurs re this deal thus far. They need to wake up and realise its 2011 not the 80s - to secure someone of talent you have to part with something.

Its no wonder they havent won a premiership or contested a grand final since there inception...they honestly have no idea...

If Dawson was as talented as Clark, and there weren't any better options out there, then yes.

Exactly. We have all said we are in desperate need of a Full Forward, and here we have Clark who is a full forward and some people are saying no thanks? The guy will give us structure and a contest where we majorly lack right now. He's 200cm and can pinch hit in the ruck if required. He will be a major asset to this club. Pick 12 and Warnock would be absolutely worth the trade. And $500,000 a season I can also live with. We have room to move in the cap, we have a gap that needs filled and we have a quality player potentially available.

How much the 'need' is for him to go home, I'm not sure, but let's do ALL we can to get him down here. We haven't landed a player of any note for decades, so let's start our climb up the ladder here and now...

I think most of us here are all for that deal to happen. But ultimately it comes down to where Clark wants to go. If the lure of home is too great, then Freo must come up with a decent offer for Lions to accept it. If clark is interested in coming to Melbourne, then Freo seriously have to come up with something bloody good to trump us. Freo still in the box seat, but at least you guys will get something decent for him..

I'd give two first rounders for Clarke if we got a late 20's pick back. Smells of an Ottens to Geelong like trade. If he's exactly what we need (just about) then we might have to pay a bit more then we'd like, but the upside should be worth it.

So that's the reason we've never won a premiership. We've been to hard on the trade table... Maybe we should have caved in earlier given more than pick 1(Hodge) and 36 (Mitchell) for Croad? Maybe we shouldn't have played hardball on Headland for so long and offered more than the trade of picks 3, 19 and McPhee (soon to be AA).

The club has finally woken up and not paying significant overs for players. Also, it's not like we're the only ones to play hardball, Carlton and Collingwood have done the exact thing 2 of the last 3 years to us.

Anyway, on topic. For what its worth, I hope he goes to Melbourne. He seems a perfect fit for your team and you can obviously offer more financially and in a trade.

I would love to see Melbourne land big Clarky. It would be a big boost for your club & Jimmy.

I'm not happy about losing Mitch, but his heart is not with the Lions. Melbourne is one club that I would like to see him thrive & play to his obvious potential.

I would hate to see him tearing it up in a Collingwood/Carlton/Richmond/Essendon jumper.
