Just mentioned by Gerard Heally on 3aw that Dawes has twanged his calf injury.
He must have done that at training today ?

The positive thing is the core of the fitness training has already been completed and it's more the ball skills/match simulations they're missing out on. An injury at this time of the year isn't much different to an injury during the year fitness wise. It's getting a little frustrating now.
We have replacements if they're not back for round 1, but missing a chunk of the pre-season is the biggest concern.

Superb
Is Buckley training them too hard or something. Gotta say I am not that confident about this year at all now. 5 guys down and we haven't played one competitive match yet.

Yep, plus other teams that have won GFs have started with players struggling/suspended etc. It's more keeping the core of your key players together and fit towards the end of the season. Didak is the biggest injury for the club, depending on this Dawes rumour.Just a thought, wasn't it 2010 when early in the season we went through such an upheaval because a lot of older players were struggling with injury and form?
We had players like Fraser, O'Bree and Medhurst (was he still around then?) that were eventually replaced by younger players, for the better.
Not saying Dawes is one of the older players, but Didak, Krak and BJ are in that category.

I just think there's no need to panic.I always love your optimism matty but even you have to admit that the last week isn't a good sign.
This is the first injury news that has really disappointed me since I had high hopes Dawes would have a big year. I guess he still can but he never quite recovered after his calf injury last year after he started the season in red hot form.
The thought crossed my mind as well, though it's probably just bad luck. Still we know Hird had to be reigned in a bit by his assistants since he was trying to get his side training like he did back in the day and not everyone can go at that kind of intensity all the time, possible Buckley is learning the same lesson now.
I just think there's no need to panic.
The only player who has had a problem in the last few weeks that will miss a significant period of time is Krakouer.
Dawes, Elliott, Johnson and Didak are all likely to be back by about round 3 of the NAB Cup.
Of course that's assuming Dawes only has a calf strain.
