Silly MCG. Dont usually do away games but was considering standing for this one.

Refuse to pay 14 on top of my membership when I can sit at home with a bottle of scotch and actually see what is going on.

Shared gate..

Yeah I'm not paying $14 to stand and drink bad beer when can relax on the couch and drink good scotch.

Just out of interest, if you bought the cheapest ticket (without a qualifying membership) what would the cost be?

Absolutely agree with you on that.
Why would I get the shitty bus to Marshall then the shitty V Line train, pay an extra $14 to stand up and spend $80 on shit beer while standing five deep with ****wit Essendon supporters and then have to get the shitty V Line train back again and then a $35 cab ride home?
I will be sinking a 6-pack of Coopers Red, ordering a pizza and plonking my fat arse on the couch.
Madtiger would be proud.

Hes an old man BP

VLine running this weekend Tug? Maybe you should take advantage whilst you can :D

& yeah. Have no issue with them charging premium for seats. Fair cop, it's the hottest ticket in town on Saturday night.

But charging me anything to stand? Nope. I'll be a -1 on the crowd figure. Would happily pay the booking fee but 14 would mean I am paying the MCG 6-7 bucks on top of my 16 gamer. Just no.

This is why I am going to have to upgrade from an 11-game home membership to something better next year. Will definitely have to grab the area where you and Stuey are.
Blockbusters and sell outs are going to be more frequent from here on in. I need a more comfy seat on the Tiggy Train Bandwagon.

Just get anywhere up there, unless the family next to move which I suspect they will given the sillies have part of their group sitting elsewhere.

No one ever sits in their seats. Last week I sat 1 bay across with a mate down the front.

I still reckon there will 'only' be around 85k there. I don't think people like reserving a seat, especially when it's up in the clouds at the 'G.

Will be interesting to see what the crowd is and how live TV effects it. What's has the biggest crowd been this year?

Essendon v Collingwood: 86932
Carlton v Collingwood: 84259
Hawthorn v Collingwood: 78466
Richmond v Carlton: 78285

So yeah, don't think it'll crack too much more than 85k.

anyone hear on the footy show they mentioned that it is sold out, they said 100 but we know that aint happening, 90k would be awesome for the game.

About $35 if you buy a reserved seat, which is all that's available for this game.

I did it this year to a reserved seat for home games. expensive when you add kids on top, and can only justify 11 home games. I refuse to go up to nose bleed, which as you say, is going to be the norm in future. So it's TV for me too this week.
TV is shithouse tho, the way the game is played these days, when you've got no idea whats ahead of the ball carrier. Drives me nuts. Then add commentators...

TV is shit for AFL. Almost unwatchable.
I am a rugby league fan as well and that gane was made fir TV as all he play is unfolding within camera shot.
That is why their crowds are not great and why crowds at AFL games are phenomenal. There is nothing like being at the game to see everything unfold and cameras can't capture it adequately.

Agree. How many sellouts do you you hear about and then see the crowd as 85k? Heaps.
85k will be a great result and that is what i expect.

nah there will be Standing room. Once GA (which is now completely GReserve) gets sold, everyone else can purchase a standing room ticket.

Still plenty of seats in the AFL members.

ETA: GA must be sold out, they are selling MCC bays (Q37-Q40) now to the general public.

Surely u jest, i am an Richmond AFL member and on the first day of sale in early April M undercover (ground level), N undercover Level 2, 3rd Level P sec were close to sold, im pretty happy that i bought my 8 tkts on the first day of sale in April and got M undercover ground level....ground Level M sec (open) has been selling for steadily over the past month but that also sold out more than a week ago so that left top level Q sec and the only available seats as of 4.20am is "single seats only" and that was in Q28 pretty sure that's the last bay....anyway im guessing by today Friday all available seating will be sold out, if MCC member's roll up in force which i think they will with all the hype and a nice day forecast a crowd of 90K is on the cards....

whoo hooo shared gate!!!!

I would say that watching it on TV is watchable but it's nothing like being at the ground.

With the AFL the play 50-70 meters from the ball can be just as important as the play within 5 meters. When your player wins the ball you look around the ground to see if there's anyone one on the lead or which passage is the best way to take. You can't see that on TV.

The only advantage TV has is because of the close ups and commentary you will take note of players who are having an impact, which may not be so noticable in the stands.

Agree. It is the play unfolding 50m, sometimes 100m, away that that TV cannot capture.
