Yeah, probably will be a smashing. India on their flat tracks will rack up huge scores, again giving them the false sense that they are actually a good team. India's bowling attack is one of the worst in world cricket at the moment out of the test playing nations. India v New Zealand in New Zealand might be a different story.

India were competitive against us at home back then. They are a much poorer team now I think. Stars fading. Bowling attack non-existant and no depth.

Fair enough, that. But with Dravid and VVS gone now is the ideal scenario to blood a few young ones. Home series against the Kiwis - can't hope for a more perfect platform.
An equally crumbling England follow them after the Kiwi tour, so it's an interesting summer ahead!

Hopefully for their sake some of their youngsters step up. Badrinath, Kholi, Raina etc. But I cant think of anything going for them bowling wise. Is that youngster fast bowler who came over here playing still?
England in India will be very interesting. If England lose their they will be a completely shattered team, just in time for the Ashes!

England are terrible in the sub-continent too. If India can at least find a spinner who turns it a bit they will get riled.
Unless India forego flat pitches, don't expect them to win every match.

Game 1 in a few hours. I reckon the Kiwis best hope is to bat first and put up 400, then hope to draw. Rossco, KWill and Baz will seriously have to come to the party.

Kiwis should be IMO: McCullum, Guptill, Flynn, Taylor*, Williamson, Franklin, Watling+, Bracewell, Boult, Patel, Martin. Leaving out Nethula, Southee, van Wyk, Wagner.
No coverage on Fox? What is this bs. I remember last time NZ played in India it wasn't in the monthly book but popped up on the digital guide the day of the match. No such luck this time.

Well last year they plugged all home internationals and domestics on bcci.tv, remember turning it on when Sach was nearing that 100th on a couple of occasions. Dunno if it's still there this season though - didn't check!
Fox not broadcasting this is silly.

Sooo...5-307 after day 1. Not as bad as it could have been for NZ and apparently three of the wickets were gifts from the batsmen. Bracewell injured which is a blow. Bolt continues to impress. Good decision to play Patel ahead of Nethula, rewarding current form. Why did van Wyk get the nod ahead of Watling?! Craziness. Franklin has been picked from relative obscurity for this series, but a good selection at number 6. McCullum back to opening is a good sign, if he's not going to open he might as well bat 7, not 3. That was the whole point of him dropping the gloves.

Agreed that his bowling these days is nothing more than 115km'h dobbers that don't swing anymore, which is a shame because he was one of my favourite bowlers going around as a kid and his action is great to watch. But I'd say he's now within the top 6-8 middle order batsmen on the scene for NZ (first-class batting average 35 with 14 hundreds), now playing a very similar role to Vettori - can bat at 6/7 as good as any of the 'specialist' batsmen and can bowl lengthy spells without going to many runs. If Vettori had played this match, Franklin might not have.
Here's hoping this Ish Sodhi can develop into a tidy bowler, U19 leg spinner for NZ. Gives the ball a huge rip.

I think Franklin is one of the better NZ bats nowadays. Sad reflection on their cricketers, but he deserves a place.
