2nds 2nd Preliminary Final - Werribee v Geelong, North Port Oval, 2:10PM Sunday 16 September

Since the game is on Sunday, and as such isn't up against any AFL finals, and since Geelong and Werribee play for the K-Rock Cup, I hope they have a commentary team calling the game on Sunday. Won't have to put up with Phil's anti-Geelong bias then.

Knights made this comment in the Hun. I’m assuming he’s referring to Vards

He was refering to Varcoe

Improved utility Jonathan Simpkin, who was best on ground in last week's qualifying final loss to reigning premier Port Melbourne, is eligible, as is Travis Varcoe.

But Knights said it was unlikely the Cats would risk the spring-healed forward because of his wretched run with injury this season.

You would expect Simpkin comes in for the ineligible Guthrie and that's about it.

Maybe Vardy plays if ok.

I'd personally like to see us go in with one less tall and look to a bit more run, but I doubt it will happen.

I don't think they'll play Vardy again this year.Wrap him & Varcoe up for 2013.
If he was to play a tall would have to be dropped [either Walker or Simpson]

Definitely play Murdoch, Vardy and Simpkin. Playing Varcoe would be stupid because he's barely over his injuries and hasn't played. Wrap him up for next year. Vardy on the other hand looks fit and ready. Good luck telling him to take another rest after 4 games or whatever it is.

I'd play Vardy permanent forward and switch Brown down back for either Bathie or McClean.

McLean has been our best back half player all year. No! No! No!

K-Rock are calling the game

McLean is our best defender, so that's not going to happen.

Doesn't sound like Vardy will play anyway.

The Werribee Tigers have done up this poster promoting the clash...

... and YES... the game will be live on Sunday on 95.5 K-Rock (I've emailed the station as well, to see if they are broadcasting on 88.0 FM at the ground).

I'll post later in the week directions to the ground and entry fee (if maybe the mods could make that a sticky???)

How come Varcoe is eligible? (Not that he'll play.)
And did Guthrie only play less than 6 VFL matches?

Varcoe's eligible because he missed more than 8 weeks with injury.

239359_1_L.jpg

Public Transport Directions:

If travelling into the City by train, jump off at Southern Cross (Spencer Street) Station.

Walk to the corner of Spencer and Collins Street, then to the tram stop on Collins Street (in front of the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store).

Jump on the 109 Port Melbourne Tram. The journey should take about 5-7 minutes until you reach the North Port tram platform (as shown on the map above).

Cross the tracks and walk a few blocks along Raglan Street (passing the Albion Hotel) and you'll reach the ground - All in all, about a 10 minute journey from the CBD.

Travelling by Car:

If coming from Geelong, jump off the Westgate Freeway at Montague Street, turn right to Williamstown Road. Then right along Williamstown Road until Ingles Street.

For the best parking, try the industrial area around Ingles Street.

(Can I suggest the mods make this a sticky)

Guthrie ineligible

Simpkin and Murdoch named - no Vardy

Sully playing the earlier.young guns curtain raiser - Darcy Holden named as 23rd man

Hamling named on extended bench along with Hollmer. Can see one of these coming in and maybe leaving Simpson out, can't go in overly tall on the tight PM ground, and he seems to be only just going at the minute. See big Dawson as part of the future going forward, interesting to read today that he may want out though..

B: Cameron Eardley, Tom Gillies, George Burbury
HB; Jordan Murdoch, Andrew McLean, David Wojcinski
C: Shannon Byrnes, Troy Selwood (c), Simon Hogan
HF: Jonathan Simpkin, Joshua Walker, Jackson Sheringham

Bloody good side...with Simpkin and Murdoch we have some serious strength.

Not sure if nabllett playing for werribee, but i am going to back us home comfortably. Shane Kersten was an absolute treat last week and have got big wraps on schroder who has gone from strength to strength lately. I urge all cats fans to get down to port and enjoy a great day at the footy...still remember going to 2002 vfl gf as one of the best football experiences i have ever had!
