Lewis Johnston played 20 games out of 24 & finished runner up in the SANFL leading goal kicker, kicking 57goals, 2 behinf the leader who played all 24matches. The kid will make the crows side next season, knocking on thye door behind Josh Jenkins who will be stepping in to tippetts spot.

Actually, I'm suggesting Johnston is a superstar. The kid has much more natural talent then Kurt Tippett.

Go back to the day he was traded - Swan supporters were fuming. Rightfully so as well, he will hold his value in due time. Can't say the same about T.Armstrong.

Agree that Johnston is looking good. Saw him play this year and he looked good.

Although you are forgetting that we got Armstrong and Tommy Walsh with that trade so we are happy with our lot.

The thing that I can't understand about Johnston is why haven't the crows tried him in defense. You are short of tall defenders and it would make him a bit tougher which was the main gripe with him here. Magnificent kick. Could take the kick ins and hit a pass 50 meters easily. Make him get his own ball.

2 years time I think you may have a good one. Which I have no problem with as he would still be struggling to get a game for us and the NEAFL was no place to improve.

He didn't play as a kpf. He has more runs on the board, which you're attempting to argue for Reid / Tippett.

That's right you can't because you can't see the future. IMO Armstrong is going to play a greater role in the 2013 Swans side and I hope to see him become (over the next few years) an important player in much the same mould as a Malceski. However I cannot see into the future and he may not get another game ever again get traded to StKilda and eventually get selected as an AA ruck... Who knows right? I wasn't happy about losing Johno but at the end of the day it has all worked out. We are the 2012 Premiers for many reasons and one of the most important is our ability to handle ourselves in the trade period and offseason. I will again lay full trust in our recruiters to do the right thing as they have done so many times before.

Congrats on the victory, however. I have not / will not ever doubt the Sydney Swans ability to recruit. I was simply stating that LJ will be superior player to that of Armstrong, which like I said will be proven in due time. I'm not sure where you think he will slot in your team in 2013 (based on current form). Unless of course, you have the retirements of Bolton etc then he MAY get a gig.

LJ's issue is that he has a personality trait that comes across as extremelly immature and doesn't work hard enough. That was also indicated by your club at the time he was traded. This is the trait that many believe has held him back from playing much more games in the AFL and not only that he wasn't going to get a gig over a bloke who the club had invested so much money in.

2013 will be a new year and I seriously hope he get's a run in the seniors as quite frankly he's just too good to be playing in the twos.

Stop being childish. What does Johnston have to do with the Tippett trade. I was simply pointing out that White was a long way back in the pecking order hence why crows wouldn't want him. But someone like the dogs or dees might.

No doubt the trade was a win-win for both clubs.

LJ is simply not a back - He plays a similar style of football to Walker, just without any confidence. I personally am glad they haven't played him in the back line, and with heath grundy ( ) running around back there next year makes it even more sense to play him out on the 50 arch up forward.

I do remember the crows had him running around the back during the NAB cup and looked OK.
