interesting that the media haven't touched on his apparent heart problem at all.

A big story concerning Josh Toy by @SamLandsberger is about to drop on @superfooty
EXCLUSIVE: PRIZED Gold Coast youngster Josh Toy is adamant his football career is not over despite being diagnosed with a serious heart condition.
Start of sidebar.
Toy does not want his condition, known as congenital heart block, to destroy a career that looked extremely promising when he was one of the top 17-year-olds in the country just three years ago.
But his midfield ambitions look shot after the discovery of the condition, which severely restricts his aerobic capacity.
Toy has been linked to several Melbourne clubs in trade talks.
MORE TO COME
(that explains the aerobic capacity issue :S)

I am the best newsbreaker in football, although I only had to beat out this guy...

What are peoples thoughts on clinton young? I think we could outbid collingwood despite wellingham leaving, would he be of any value to us? Would effectively mean Dyson gets delisted/traded.
Myers wouldn't be the whipping boy any more for just hacking the ball forward.

This trade period will end up us only:
- Landing Goddard
- Offloading Monfries who wanted to leave anyway.

I guess that's a win... 1 more deal done than last trade period.

He has spoken with the Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and briefly with Essendon but also feels positive about remaining with the Suns, who have offered him a one-year contract extension, should a trade not be worked out.
Toy was a junior star when the Suns signed him, his kicking and reading of the play a highlight of his underage career at Essendon Grammar, the Calder Cannons and Vic Metro.

Personally I feel having a bloke with a dodgy heart a massive liability when it comes to running out a game that is now heavily based on endurance.....

Poor bloke.... gee wiz thats the last thing anybody needs and it explains a lot about how he has been playing as well. It will be interesting to see how much it really effects him, you would think he would really want to come out and prove himself next year.

Any reason we’re apparently not having a crack for Clint Young? Free agent, would be a good get I reckon.

Because he's the biggest squib in the AFL?

Felt so sorry for him when he failed to knock that ball through that Jack capitalised on.

Then I remembered that he plays for Hawthorn and I laffed and laffed and laffed.

Based on the info posted about Toy's condition - DO NOT WANT.

It is nothing against the kid, I genuinely feel for him as it wil ldefinitely impact his career. We just aren't in a position to recruit a midfielder/flanker who won't get the chance to build their endurance to an elite level no matter where they play.

And I agree, I'm so glad the Caddy thing is done and dusted.

As for Young, I wouldn't be opposed to getting him for the right deal. Would be a further step forward in us being a team that uses the ball well by foot. I'd assume "that" moment from the GF will haunt him for life and he won't be shy to put his body on the line for the rest of his career.

I always feel for players whose career will, no matter what else they do, be defined by a 'that moment' scenario.

Rhyce Shaw is one, but at least his mistake didn't cost Collingwood the game- they got flogged off the park. Clinton Young is another. But Young's is infinitely worse, because it was in a close grand final and if he had knocked the ball through for a point, Hawthorn may well now have their 11th premiership. That's a big millstone for any player to carry.

Having said that, I wouldn't be that keen on Young regardless. I see him as a bit of a one trick pony.
