5 min interview with Dodoro, to sum it up seems like we're just about done as far as trading goes, not keen on KPPs, Moloney and we don't have the picks for Caddy.

I think there will be something in this Josh Toy trade.

MAD essendon fella, but IMO on form shown would be worth around the pick we received for Gus.

If the Gold Coast were to demand a 1st round pick based on his output to date, they would surely have lost the plot.

I think we will get Tom Fields instead of Josh Toy.
GC will ask for something ridiculous.

like a first rounder...
interesting that the media haven't touched on his apparent heart problem at all.
i've seen toy play at afl level, showed shit all.
I've seen both toy and fields at u 18 level on tape (admittedly i've seen fields at labrador as well) and fields looks a better prospect, the weight he puts on his kicks is immaculate, drops them on a 5 cent piece.

If we look at the respective skill sets of Toy and Caddy in the vacuum being their junior careers/supposed skill sets, Toy is actually the sort of kid we ought to chase and chase hard because he adds something we don't really have on the list (a classy mid-small defender with an elite kick) while Caddy is simply about adding a potential upgrade on players we already have quite a lot of.

We are only helped by Toy's underwhelming first few years in the AFL system. The big risk is that he was identified very young and quite a few under-age players taken by GC are maybe not as good as was first thought. Given the stalling of others like Weller I don't see how GC can justify their demands for a first round pick.

It could work against them with Toy being out of contract. Unlike Caddy who has been reliable at AFL level maybe we can scare other potential suitors from Toy by putting a price on his head in the short term.

The fremantle board is convinced that WC just offered Stevens in exchange for Gumbo and our third rounder, and we told them to get f@#ked.They have also stated that freo's out of the race. but who knows
I wouldnt be surprised if out of nowhere we announce a group signing like we did at the end of the year, involving Myers, Gumbo Reimers etc.

I agree. The only question mark over him is his work rate and intensity, which has been raised numerous times. If he was to produce on our list what he has displayed so far at GC, he would not be receiving many fans. BUT, if he could pull his finger out and fullfil his enormous potential, then he could go down as one of those Sydney-esque trade steals (that is, if he was to leave for his current market value which I would suggest would be a 3rd round pick). Based on what I know about Toy, if Essendon is showing genuine interest, it is unlikely he would want to go anywhere else if he were to come back to Melbourne.

Supposedly this time last week Carlton were interested as were Freo, I was saying then Gumby would stay, now they've supposedly dropped out, and people still think he wants to move?

He'll stay.

at U18 level, Toy was considered a top 3 prospect as a 17yo, and absolutely dominated a national carnival at 17. Fields hasn't shown anywhere near that ability, hence why he is still not on an AFL list as a 19yo. Whilst Fields is an excellent kick, he doesn't provide much more than that. Defensively he needs to improve. But no doubt, so does Toy. I agree with you that Toy has shown FK all at AFL level to date, but would still choose him over Fields.

Is he a fan or something?

Yep, is a PEGS boy and idolised Hird as a kid. Ken Fletcher thinks he is the best talent he ever coached at PEGS, and that includes a decent list of players (cotchin included). Having said that, he was a man child.

Who, Toy?

Add pace, kicking, hardness, talent level, upside.... and most importantly, his actual health which restricted his ability to train...

plenty of positives to be had out of his kicking, talent level, and upside. Intensity/hardness is definitely lacking, and pace is an issue, but I think that's tied in with the intensity side of things. I am actually not aware of the training issue - can you elaborate?

Can you elaborate where you've seen his talent demonstrated, since 2009?

Hey, i'm not disputing that he has been terrible so far at AFL level. BUT, there is no doubting the kid has talent based on his performances at underage level. Whether he has already peaked or if he is in the wrong system at GC, people can speculate. He has some major deficiencies no doubt, but I think it is mainly down to attitude rather than anything else, and I think this is an area that can be ironed out if in the right system.

Aerobic capacity is non exsistant for Josh Toy, do not want, running out games has been an issue since the Knight era. Would rather get Fev and play him along half back then Toy

What are peoples thoughts on clinton young? I think we could outbid collingwood despite wellingham leaving, would he be of any value to us? Would effectively mean Dyson gets delisted/traded.

THAT millisecond in the GF was enough to turn me off.

There absolutely is doubt.

A big story concerning Josh Toy by @SamLandsberger is about to drop on @superfooty

EXCLUSIVE: PRIZED Gold Coast youngster Josh Toy is adamant his football career is not over despite being diagnosed with a serious heart condition.
Start of sidebar.

Toy does not want his condition, known as congenital heart block, to destroy a career that looked extremely promising when he was one of the top 17-year-olds in the country just three years ago.
But his midfield ambitions look shot after the discovery of the condition, which severely restricts his aerobic capacity.
Toy has been linked to several Melbourne clubs in trade talks.

MORE TO COME
(that explains the aerobic capacity issue :S)

We desperately need another inside and outside midfielder to continue improving our list.
It still resembles one of a bottom 8 side.
Big chasm behind Watson & Goddard.
