Don't know all that much about him, although he did well for me in Supercoach last year before getting injured.

Still young, could be a decent KPD backup option if/when Brown flies the coop.

Unless I'm thinking of someone else, I think he's 30 next year...

Sydney moved from the 40's to the 60's in the draft while Morton was traded for a packet of chips. They would have been delisted if Sydney didn't make deals.

i dont think rhyce shaw would have been delisted. he was a regular and then got injured in his final year. Morton is still a nothing. his place in sydney's 1st team is far from secured.

Based on your concerns regarding the age of veterans I wish to point out Paul Bower is 24 years and 9 months old. At 192cm & 92kg's he is slightly undersized but should Darren Glass, Eric Mackenzie and Mitch Brown succumb to injuries he would be an adequate replacement to cover larger forwards.

He would be the only Delisted player i would consider as he isnt that bad and would be enough to cover one of the tall defenders. Why would we want Rodan? we have so many other players waiting to play in the forward line next year: Lecra, Nicoski to come back in along with Brad Dick, Hams & Newman.

Not that I agree with bringing in Rodan as I don't think he's even been THAT good and his best is past him, however.

Dick and Newman are unproven at AFL level IMO.
I'd probably choose Rodan over Hams.
Le Cras will play mid and Nicoski could go down with injury again.

So as has been stated, using Rodan as purely depth - even a rookie, would be great cover for those guys.

I'd much rather we played Dick, Newman etc before Rodan - he'd be in the team purely as depth.

we have enough depth without the need to get rodan, waste of a spot imo.
Bower is the only one I'd consider (if we lost brown) for cover, while we either mould mcinnes into a kpd or draft another tall to develop.

In regards to Mr Paul Bower formally of the Carlton Football Club ,His age of 24 years and 9 months doesn't make him eligible to be classed as a veteran.

As far as a replacement for Mr D Glass,Mr E McKenzie or Mr M Brown if he decides to stay ,I'm afraid that I Mr Eaglenut is not informed effort of his talents to make a accurate comment on whether Mr Bower is a adequate replacement.

The average AFL career lasts around 5 seasons. At nearly 25, I think it's fair to say the player is a veteran. In terms of contract definition, I'm sure it's closer to 30 than 20.

veterans usually only get a 1 year 2 year max deal .A veteran player goes on the veteran list once they have give 10 years of service to one club. so if that player is drafted at 18 that would make the player 28.

It all depends on how you view standard deviations from the mean. I would agree that once a player hits 28, that enters the 1-2 year contract maximum. The prime argument is an interesting one. It would be interesting to see production at age statistics for the AFL.

its relevance is the age at the time they won.Since the brownlow is the highest honour for a individual .you would say that at the time they won they could have been in career best form .Side note the average age of those player was 25.75 years

Pretty irrelevant. It is an award won almost exclusively by midfielders in top 8 teams. KP players are more likely to peak later in their careers.

B&F for each club is probably the best you can do - although there is a general consensus that 24-28 is peak for most players - but not all.

no not my suggestion at all the question was about peak age and peak performance ,which i said was 24.25.26.

I used the brownlow as a guide to peak performance and to get a average age of the last 12 winners.

Franklin is 25 so on ausbackers view he is a veteran where i say he's at his peak

You're not going around in circles. You made a point and used an incredibly poor example to try and stress that point. That was pointed out to you by multiple posters. Furthermore, you haven't drawn any connection nor presented any facts to demonstrate what should be considered the peak age for AFL footballers. What you have done is presented the average age of Brownlow winners for a period of time.

When you make a claim, it's your job to back it up.

I backed it with the ages of the Brownlow winners,just because it is of yours a one other that the brownlow is a bad example,that can be your views.

any one with half a brain knows that a player with 3 to 4 preseason and a between 70 to 100 games would be considered to be coming into there peak age .drafted at 18 plus three to four preseasons player a is 21/22 years of age, so maybe I could change view to 23 to 27 .

18 to 22 development
23 to 27 peak
28 to 32 veteran

and you have never once backed your view just judged mine .I believe that I have been more than willing to give you a answer.
