Traded #3: Scott Gumbleton - Traded to Fremantle for pick 55

Baguley will be a much better player than Slattery - Baguley actually helps his fellow defenders.
There were a couple of games near the end of the year where Baguley was the only player offering Hooker and co any sort of chop-out. Worth keeping that kinda player around.

There was a reason they lodged their pick for Joe Daniher
1. He was rated as the #1 or #2 pick in the draft
2. A Butcher-Daniher combo in 3 years time would be deadly

Every year we send out feelers, every year a couple of clubs 'sniff' Gumby out and then we end up re-signing him to keep our medical and fitness staff busy for another season.

Hopefully something about that cycle changes...

Melbourne was only looking as a 2nd option, Freo still a small chance and no other horses prepared to put a serious offer forward.

If he can play 10+ games next year we'll get some serious offers, assuming he shows reasonable form.

Hopefully he demands a spot for 2014, but his value would have increased markedly. All depends on how quickly JD progresses, too.

Wow.

Like, there's a million facets of the game you can pick to criticise Hank, but you pick the one that he's spent his entire career doing well.

He spent Knights' entire tenure playing on his own man and Dempsey's man.

Bulldogs have a reported 2 year deal on the table, so IF he chooses them over Us, than good riddance.

Please re-sign Gumby!

I read it on the AFL website but I think it's in the Age and the HUN as well. From what I hear he'll make his mind up next week.

Do you know what sort of coin you offered?

No idea. I'm just going on what the media outlets are saying. I should also add that one of them reported that he's likely to stay so if that's the case I can't imagine it would be a significant amount more than what Essendon have offered, just an extra year.

Will make things interesting if say you are offering 200-250k over 2 years and we are sticking with 150k for 1.

Is that all Essendon have offered? I thought it would be closer to the $200 - 250k mark. At a guess I'd say we'd offer around that figure considering we'll have to get to 95% of the cap somehow, it could possibly be more.

That's my understanding, though I have been known to get things completely wrong on multiple occasions.

I would have though a wink and understanding that he can stay on as the boot-studder for 2 or 3 years at $200k a season if he gets injured is reasonable.
