If this were to happen, wouldn't it have to happen before tomorrow's deadline?

That nobody is taking him as a DFA suggests to me that clubs only view him as a 'maybe' late pick (depending on who else is available), or a rookie pick.

How about that, then. Still, surprised, but I guess they'll work out if he can hack it

He'll be fine.

Will be a better addition to the Richmond list than somebody like Wood/Pettard/Stephenson.

Like I said, his heart "issues" are over-exaggerated (due to overhydration) ... clubs are just being extra cautious - thats all.

From someone who knows Josh, his heart "problems" are over-exaggerated in the media.

He's done medicals with 5 clubs that I know of (Rich, Haw, North Melb, WB, Ess).

So it would seem clubs are doing their due dilligence.

This crap about "the company he keeps off field" is just that.

I think you'll find you have your players mixed up there C4...

That 'company' thing is about Martin, nothing to do with Toy...

Sugar coater...

Be seriously disappointed if essendon do not get him. I thought we did well getting goddard right at the start of proceedings but i would have thought we needed to add atleast one more that can come straight in. I was hoping for stevens or jacobs or toy. Stevens has gone to the dogs so 2 of them are still available i guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

Don't be disappointed mate. A lot of Essendon fans are overrating this guy. He wouldn't 'come straight in', because he's not that good.
And, looking at the strength of the draft around our first live pick, we may just grab Jacobs.

maybe but saints would have first crack at him and with pick 35 being our first live pick i am not convinced they will use it on him.

Maybe i just think we need another player who has been around for a couple of years to help spread the load a make every player have to perform to keep their spot in the team.

Saints may have a go with 25 and 26. To be honest, the depth of this draft doesn't appear great after 30. Really seems to drop off. at 25 and 26 Saints may have better options. So it may pan out nicely for us.

That's a different story. When you said 'come straight in' I assumed you meant best 22. But yes, he could potentially be a viable depth player.

well be able to come in and do a job whether that means best 22 or best 25-26 just be able to come in and do what is required and not look out of place.

If his heart issues are over exaggerated then he would be a good pickup because he clearly has talent. However you have to wonder why he hasn't been able to do anything at AFL level.

Key issue. Couldn't do anything with the Suns, how will he manage anything with an Essendon or Richmond?
Being home with the family could be the improver but it's a risk.

Maybe he hasn't been able to do anything at AFL level because he's only 20 years old?

Well he has barely cracked a game in a team full of kids...

You're right, but at the end of the day we just don't know what goes on behind the scenes.
Could just be one of those kids that hates life away from his family and friends.
After all, he had no choice in getting picked up by the Gold Coast or not.

Correct and I didn't write him off just queried the reasons behind him not succeeding in be a regular in the 22 so far.

Wasn't he one of the 17 yr olds that the Gold Coast picked up? Im pretty sure he was able to say no if he wanted to

Oh is that right? I'm not too sure mate.
Either way he may be hating life up there, we just dont know.
Hopefully for his sake he does get picked up, whether it's by us or not.

There was a rumour that GC told him they would take him either way but he could get more money if he signed as a 17yo and thus saved GC a pick. Win for GC as they don't waste a top 3 pick a win for Toy because he gets more cash for doing the same thing.
