Will never forget the obvious game. Could see he was on early so my money chose him for NS.
Still gobsmacked at the crucifixion he received on here too.

Even after almost 250 games, Embley is still an enigmatic player- most of the time he is a handy, best 22 player, but several times each season he will have outings where he gets 25 x disposals, 10 x inside 50s, and kicks multiple goals from the wing which absolutely kill the opposition- when he does that, we usually win.

People also seem to conveniently forget he was out for most of this season. As they say in racing: "he had excuses and forget he went around".

How could I have forgotten Embley! One of my fav players to watch play. Has gotten way to much crap for his few mistakes in the final against the magpies

Don't want to turn this thread into a criticism of anyone, but I think Shuey needs to work on his 'big game' game to prove himself as a real A-grade midfielder.

Shuey has the same problem as NicNat imo, he played fine against Collingwood,Geelong,North etc at home but when we played Hawthorn,Collingwood away he wasn't as good.

Gaff seems to play pretty well when the team isn't doing so great, always seems to give 100%.

Kerr to be replaced by Shuey in a year or two. Nic Nait has some great 'big game' games but he's gone missing in a few

Right now Kerr but hopefully overtaken by Darling, Naitanui and Shuey by 2015

I know his missed season 2012 but no love for LeCras, but love for JACK WATTS...

Also it has been more than half a decade, but you still aren't allowed to have these threads without mentioning Adam "the Hitman" Hunter, the single most stone cold big game killer ever to pull on an eagles guernsey, who had an uncanny ability to always pull out a goal when it mattered. In crunch contests with 10 minutes to play, our game plan used to be-
1.) Get Hunter within 60 metres of goal.
2.) Get ball within general vicinity of Hunter.
3.) ?????
4.) Give celebratory press conference.

And going even further back? Tony Evans.

I really rate gaff and like watching him play, but he's not really a game breaker as yet. Needs to start kicking a few more goals

Gaff isn't a 'game breaking' type of player. He doesn't even have to be. It was known when he was drafted that he's a 'death by 1000 cuts' type and that is how he wears teams down over the course of a match.

The likes of Nic bat, shuey and Selwood are only babies. In a few years these kind of combos are to be feared. Then there's the skip-my-apprenticeship types in gaff and darling. ****.

I'd say over the past 5 years there are 3 standouts from the current list, Kerr, embley and cox. Those 3 have won games off their own boot at times and contributed heavily in "big" games. Agree that shuey needs to play better in big games, wouldnt go as far to say he is a down hill skier. I think Scooter will have the ability to be a big game player and surprised there has been no love for Rosa, granted he hasnt been overly prominent but has put together a handful of massive games. An overall improvement from a core 10 players is all you need really, ideally you dont want to have your one or two players getting it done in every "big" game
