Zaha doesn't have the same strengths as Ablett. Jesus people. He has some similarities, that's all.

I don't like the comparison either. I suppose they do things in much the same way but Zaharakis doesn't not have the strength and power of Ablett. He isn't kicking the ball particularly well at the moment either.

We all know the main board is a place for Essendon supporters to not venture to.

I tend to just stay here, truth be told!
I don't think may of my posts are outside here.

Where is the main board? :p

People often talk about it, I figure it's just some strange culture of people who don't worship Michael Hibberd?

It is in the far reaches of the galaxy Hepell, surrounded by the planets Fletcher and Dempsey :p

Actually, isn't it for intellects without any underlining knowledge of what they are actually talking about?

I hear rumblings of the fact there are people who consider Watson not an elite player, as he doesn't have any pace?
What is this pace you speak of?

He is quick, quicker than most in fact. In the brain.

ThatbZaharakis bloke goes alright. Bit of a steal at 24 (?) in hindsight :D

Dane Beams will always be the best comparison.

- Pick 23 and 28.
- Both B and F winners.
- Were tracking similarly at the end of year 3.
- Beams elevated his game in Year 4, while Zaka was injured.
- The opposite is happening so far in Year 5.

Apart from the fact that Beams is much more of an inside player in comparison to Zaka? Zaka is closer to Sidebottom as a player

It works for their career achievements but there are guys that Zaharakis is more similar to based on the way he plays. From 08 I'd say Shuey is closest.

I know right, Slattery, Still, German, Carroll :p good overall draft for us :p

Two years after the draft only Hurley and Zaharakis remain. Getting two stars is an obvious boon but I'm not sure that it is a model draft. We'd run out of players at some point.

Off topic, 2007 is looking better by the week.

I'd say his awareness off the ball is one area he needs to work on; he can get lost when he has to track back. I don't think it's an effort thing, I think there are times when he just loses his bearings and doesn't know where to go/who to mark. Not surprising for an attacking player, but something to think about tightening up.

Can't argue with how he's performed this year though, finding lots of footy and showing he can hurt the really good teams.

Hard to agree with when he racks up the possessions. Players who can't track the ball don't get a touch, essentially. I'd put a tangent on it and say he reads the ball well when it's coming towards him or he's behind play moving forward, but gets lost when the ball moves laterally across the ground and he has to judge which way the flow of play is going.

2007 and 2009 both look better than 2008 overall, in my view.

Especially once you consider the rookie picks from those two years.

The 2009 draft could be 'that' draft which sets up our team for years to come and build a team around.

Carlisle, Howlett, Crameri with the possibilities of Melksham, Colyer and Hardingham joining our firsts could realy set us up for a decade.

2009 is looking to be our best draft of the last decade.

I didn't realize the bloke who's played more senior games under Hird than anybody else was only a possibility to be in our firsts

Pick 23

A fair enough post.

I am certain that Zaka will end up a better player than Sidebottom - Need to wait a few more years with Beams.

We can say that Zaka and Beams were bargain selections.

Luckily our Rookie and late drafts of recent have been lllllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarj

Couple of times yesterday he should of put on a block but peeled off for a cheap handball instead and let the ball carrier get tackled.
Needs to get that crap out of his game.
