How about the crows learn to kick the ball straight?

You can get all the goalkicking coaches in the world.

You want better kicks for goal, recruit more skillful players. Simple as that.

One day a club will decide to exclusively recruit genuine footballers and forget about the marathon runners and super athletes. Dare I say the results will be very interesting.

Haven't seen any of the game just got in. Just add goal kicking to the long list of things that need to be on our list of things to do for 2014. This season has been such a black dog for so many reasons. Add another forward to our injury list...saw that on twitter on the way home. 4 out of th last 5 games someone has gone down with a serious injury.

Our kicking for goal has sucked for a long time and its about time it was given a higher focus by a dedicated kicking coach. Not some fly in consultant, but someone to iron out faults and get some consistency.

Yeah, they're called Geelong 2007 - 2011

Thanks for saving me having to post this.

Oh, and when you've got a forward playing good SANFL footy who is a great kick, how about giving him a game?

Now to hope he doesn't get injured, I'd be inclined to pull him from Nth Adelaide today to make sure

The game is called football.

I'd suggest that it's 5 games now lost because we cannot kick a freaking set shot to save our lives.

I'm sick of it.

And its hurt us, particularly over the last couple of years.
That's what makes it so frustrating.

As far as being sick of it goes - get in line.:p

I'm watching the replay, misses to DMack, Vince and Smack extremely poor. DMack with the hook kick when he's running at goal, what's wrong with a drop punt?

Thanks to trigg, Sando's recruiting strategy has been severely compromised. It's true that Craig placed too much emphasis on athleticism over football ability but he still had a few decent picks to use. Sando has nothing to work with aside from free agency and I wouldn't back the Crows to have any success there either.

We still have a ridiculously short injury list for this time of year. Refer to my post in the JJ broken ankle thread for a comparison of our injury list with the rest of the competition.

It's threads like this that make me even angrier at Gunston's inability to live outside of Melbourne. His is an "old fashioned" technique, reminiscent of Dennis Sachse from the late 60's early 70's, especially with the high grip of the right hand. He was a very good set shot as well

Except when it matters :p

Goalkicking is just not as hard as so many of our players make it look. The line they walk/run before impact of the kick is so important. So many times you see the bloke lining up his approach on a weird line, and then trying to kick across the body. I get that for certain situations, but 90% of the time they just need to aproach the kick in the exact line they are aiming for, hit it, and follow through in the same line. Lloyd-esque pretty much. Or Lockett or Dunstall. Our players should be made to study hundreds of goal kicks from these 3 guys, and they would soon see what they are doing wrong and/or how to improve.

It's not only goal kicking that's terrible. Inability to hit targets around the ground is poor too.

I turned the TV off when a Crows player (was it Otten?) kicked straight to a Freo player who turned and goaled. Commentary had just been warning how dangerous it was to play a certain way, because of what could happen, then the Crows did exactly that! Text book case of what not to do. How embarrassing.
