Betts would. Polec might.. maybe.Betts and Polec would make us so much better up front. Polec still has the talent to be a similar player to Wingard.
Why?If we can't get Polec, then **** us.
Forget the money, with the state our Admin have put us in, we must get Polec.

No he has stated he wants to go home.
I don't know about "must", but in the situation we're in we need to make the best of any potential trade/free agency offers that come along because the draft is not going to be a lot of help. Why?
I think these kids are just using that as an excuse to get out of Brisbane TBH, hopefully not Polec though. To loose Polec, Docherty and Longer will be detrimental for the Lions. With Rischitelli and Brennan walking a couple years back questions have to be asked about the culture up there. Clubs will focus on Brisbanes list from now on.
All the talent is there. And he's still only 20. I think he just needs to be playing footy from home to flourish. Speed, long kick: quality kick. He might not be a very good overhead mark but that's not the player we would need him to be. If you were to compare someone he would be in direct competition with next year it would be Vince. And I would be inclined to give Polec first crack so long as he shows something during the pre season matches. His speed would improve our defensive game. It's players like Vince (not his fault - the game has just gotten stupidly fast) that are letting the ball get out far too easily and that's why for many games this year the inside 50s were stacked against us.Betts would. Polec might.. maybe.
I'm just glad we are not the road kill anymore being pecked apart by vultures.I think these kids are just using that as an excuse to get out of Brisbane TBH, hopefully not Polec though. I don't have a problem with us chasing him. I just don't see why he's a "must get" player. He's been in the system for 3 years now, achieving precisely zero in that time. I know that injuries have taken their toll - but that only serves to decrease his value further, as he now has a reputation for being injury prone. After 3 years he's still trading on the "potential" that he showed before being drafted.I don't know about "must", but in the situation we're in we need to make the best of any potential trade/free agency offers that come along because the draft is not going to be a lot of help.
Polec hasn't lived up to the hype during his time in Brisbane, but the kid has talent. If we have to buy that talent with cash in lieu of draft picks, so be it.
2 Port posters very confident he's going to Port, one claiming he's demanded to be traded only to Port
There's a lot of guesses, suppositions and assumptions there. His history at Brisbane is nothing short of shambolic. He might turn around at Adelaide, he might not. The club seems like its a shambles at the minute.
Would you agree that there's a better chance with a top 5 pick coming right after only play 20 games due to injury or whatever than there is with a top 5 whose played 150 games and showed nothing like Tambling? There's a lot of guesses, suppositions and assumptions there. It happens, Josh Toy tried his luck last year and failed.Does anyone believe a player quits a club without having an in principle deal with their club of choice?
Channel 10 reported that Polec's Manager has confirmed that he has begun negotiations with BOTH Port Adelaide and Adelaide.
I think there's just a little bit more credibility there than a couple of Port posters stroking themselves..
After Channel 10 said that, Kym Dillon said this direct quote on channel 9:
"Port Adelaide could be poised to add to its young brigade; 9 News understands Brisbane wants to deal with the Power rather than the Crows over the return of homesick South Aussie Jared Polec".

I think the safest option to take is to start a haggling war with Port to drive Polec's price up. By the time Port offer $400k per year, we pull out and Port are stuck with an injury-plagued fella on way too much cash. Like Butcher.
Ah the old reporting of news on the basis of 'understanding'.
Meaningless.
In no way should Polec play over Vince, absolutely zero. All the talent is there. And he's still only 20. I think he just needs to be playing footy from home to flourish. That doesn't mean that the pies were rightIf he's not good enough for Collingwood, why is he good enough for us?

There is absolutely nothing there that spells "must get". Would I be happy if Adelaide got him on the cheap (in terms of draft picks)? Absolutely. Should we be throwing the kitchen sink at Brisbane in order to trade for him? Absolutely not.
