I'd be interested in which young players you think we have given up too quickly in recent times. I'm struggling to think of one player who started with us that is getting a regular game with any other team.

Jacobs, Kennedy & Grigg for starters.

If GWS succeed in getting Buddy and unlikely to trade Boyd, i'd like to see us at least inquire about Tomlinson from them. Good size, is a very strong mark with an excellent tank. Would be easier to obtain than say Boyd for example, but even then i doubt GWS would let him go without asking for lots. Would slot in very nicely IMO.

Good one Harks. I expected this response from some but not you. You know as well as I the circumstances of all, we did not give up on them. Kennedy was part of the, arguably, only decent trade we've done for years and Grigg and Jacobs were not given up on by this club. They rejected our offers and we were, consequently, screwed on trades.

Any others?

You mean de-listees? None I can think of.

Which others clubs delisteds have become regular best 22 for another club and if they did what would that say about those giving them away?

Buckley being delisted is ridiculous.

I am regular at Northern Blues games and I don't see how he can be retained. He doesn't have what it takes to be an AFL player. Lucky to keep his spot in the NB side.

A little harsh CJ?

He's good with ball in hand but he just doesn't get it to hand often enough. That's the main knock I have on Dylan.

Has also played injured for several games this year but that doesn't really change the issue with him not getting the ball.

He does look good when he gets it but he doesn't find it. I know coaches have been trying to help him with it but just cant find it. Just what I see.

Might be going back a ways but he is still in our best 22, come on down Carrots. If we go further back I could talk of Rice, Lappin, Hogg, Hickmott and Pierce who may not have been de-listees as such but were very cheap trade ins.

But I wasn't even specifically talking about de-listees. I can't even think of a voluntary trade we've made in recent times that has come back to bite us.

And that's a bad thing? Not sure where you're coming from bh?

You want to voluntarily trade players and then curse the fact we did?

Think this is most definitely a good idea. Won't be cheap, but would be far cheaper than Boyd (who I want but don't think they will let us have).

Apologies, I probably went off on a bit of a tangent there. I guess what I was trying to say was that we don't have a history of doing bad trades unless bent over (as with Grigg and Jacobs).

My initial response was to a post that inferred we get rid of kids too quick and I feel that, in our recent history, we are much more guilty of holding them for too long.

As for Buckley, I haven't seen him play so can't be definitive on whether he should be held or not. My gut feel is if he (as many say) is undersize and has ability I'd like to see him given one more year. I think there are a few in front of him for de-listing from what I have seen. I guess it comes down to what the coaches see in him and how wide ranging our list turnover is to be. More than happy to leave these kind of decisions to hose who are in a position to know.

No argument and that's exactly why we now have to move on the amount of players we have to.
Geelong for instance have been able to do that because they've had the development systems in place allowing players to flourish within it. We hadn't.

Guess I'm going over old ground here but our list management and development has been sub-standard in recent years.
Fortunately Mick recognized that early and had already implemented changes early in the year and will push his case for changes going forward.

Re. Buckley: We could easily move on enough players to do what we need to do without exiting Buckley.
I'm surprised (shocked to be sitting here) that his name has been brought up so early in the piece. Really surprised.

I think Adelaide are a great team to pressure for some players. They clearly want to shift a few players around and are hamstrung by not being in the first two rounds of the draft without trading for the picks. We know McKernan is on the table.

What does everyone think about doing a deal for Sam Kerridge? The guy was pretty impressive in a few games for them but never really got a good run. He is a goal kicking midfielder (or medium-tall forward who runs through the midfield, however you want to think about it). I reckon he would be a good target to grab for us. We could maybe downgrade a pick with them and give them Lucas or something? Or maybe a double trade that involves McKernan and someone like Mitchell etc?

Duigan and McCarthy are our SA boys who might look to a trade home.
