Who said, hefty?

Some people just make things up.

Someone would give a nice pick for a bloke of his size

You said someone would trade a nice pick for him.

I'm assuming that's a first rounder?

I find it very doubtful. But then again, we traded our first round for Cameron Wood.

You can see in a few other shots from the AFL news feed that he's very strong in the legs which is good for an inside mid. He'll keep his ground well and be able to lay a good tackle. These are good things in spite of his lack of height.
I've heard a few people mention Taylor Adams' height as a concern, to the extent that I decided to check to make sure I hadn't overestimated his size, and nope - Every source lists him at 179cm or 180cm.

Leigh Montagna, Sam Mitchell, Jack Steven, Mathew Stokes, Chris Masten, Tom Liberatore, Dion Prestia, Dan Hannebery, Kieran Jack, Steele Sidebottom, Brent Harvey, Adam Treloar, Nathan Jones.

What do those names have in common? All 181cm or under, all finished in the Top 50 in the AFL for average disposals in 2013.

In the role that Adams plays, height is not really that big of a factor, and even within that, he's not shockingly short, and when you consider that he's quite strongly built, it really is pretty unlikely to hold him.

Agree - and add Scully to that list who was given huge wraps and a mutli million dollar contract to go to GWS.

I like him. I'd like one more like him for a midfield and I'd say he's set. Someone exactly like him but 186 -188cm. I see this as our only missing ingredient in the centre.

All these players could be available at pick 10 and can play midfield.

Ben Lennon - 187cm
Dom Sheed - 185cm
Marcus Bontempelli - 192cm
Blake Acres - 188cm

They all sound good. Freeman and Bontempelli seem to have huge potential upside but represent a slight risk. Bontempelli is intriguing as if he is actually now 194cm as has been stated he could play virtually anywhere on the ground. His profile photo makes him look a bit of a stick though. Then again, since that bloody Gunstan took all before him I've become less prejudiced against stick men. Really hoping we can somehow retain our picks - fascinated to see which way Hine goes in the draft.

Wallace just saying on Trade Radio he reckons Pies will have to add a pick to get it done. Collingwood would be mad to do that. They hold more cards than GWS insomuch as GWS arent going to say no to the trade bc Collingwood wont give them a pick 45 as well. GWS need to get a deal done on this and pick 45 in a crap draft isnt going to be the breaker.

In addition Adams manager has already said that a 10-17 pick will get it done which I think is correct.

I reckon we just do Heath Shaw and our second pick for Taylor Adams and their third pick. Sounds fair to me.

They are the two I hope we draft, Freeman has explosive speed out of congestion, something we lack badly.

And then GWS' third goes to Sydney for White. Altogether possible. I think the external perception is that our first-rounder would get it done, our DT compo pick would get it done, but that Heater's perceived value is just below that.

I don't think GWS will be able to play hardball though. The fact is they need to get some decent players up there before they get earmarked as a club no-one wants to go to. Despite a lot of bluff and bluster, who've they successfully attracted? Scully on crazy money before he stagnated with no mature bodies around him, Callan Ward and Phil Davis. And a few retirement villagers. They need to get Heater up there or risk looking like a joke.

In isolation that is correct. You are missing the physical profile of our other midfielders though, particularly the younger ones. Having too many midfielders sub 180cm IMO will be an issue. Plus a bunch of those players have absolute elite attributes, whether it be speed or disposal. I've not seen anything of the sort from Adams. IMO the smaller you are, the more you need to rely on higher level attributes than an equivalent bigger bodied player.

GWS are increasingly looking like a hard team to deal with, they always look for clear wins instead of win- win trades. Will come back to bite them.

Simple answer, recruit Elijah Edwards who stands at 168cm ??
Then Adams will look like a giant standing next to him?

If we trade Adams for pick 10 does he get the 35 jumper?

The simple answer is NO. The number 35 jumper is reserved for our 1st selection in the national draft no matter which number is used to secure the that player.

Didn't Jamie Elliott wear it for one season? He was part of the Krakouer trade wasn't he?

No I don't think that's right. Jamie Elliott got the 35 jumper last year & we got him with a pre selection with either Krak or Clarke. He wasn't drafted.
