Loved Gordy Fode. Thought he was quite the player.
Remember Gordy kicking a few including the sealer against North at the G on a very cold Fri night game in the early 90s. I was very happy fo him after necking the 8 cans i had hidden in my multi pocketed Jacket:D
Besides from that night Gordy didnt do all that much. Ended up at the Hawks i think????

Was at that game, remember it well, bizarrely the first few minutes of it including a Fode goal are on You tube (remarkable what you stumble across on Youtube) :eek:

To at least give everyone something to laugh (or cringe) about, I found a site that lists the worst possible teams per AFL club from 1990-2003... Check out ours:

St Kilda
B Kristian Bardsley Wayne Thornborrow Glen Coghlan
HB Brett Bowey Daniel Healy Craig Devonport
C Jayson Daniels John Georgiou Damen Shaw
HF Gordon Fode Sean Ralphsmith Troy Gray
F Freddie Campbell Jason Trianidis Matthew Jackson
R Brett Cook Tony Francis Joshua Kitchen
INT Damian Monkhorst Michael Frost Anthony Harvey Glenn Nugent

.... Ouch ....

Great stuff NarklesHelmet:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: Good memories:thumbsu::thumbsu:
I remember that game vividly cos it was bloody freezing:p and i had a mad North Melb supporter mate who lived in England at the time and he said he was watching the game in a Pub over there and he rang me the next day to tell me when Fode kicked the Sealer he looked up at the TV screen and he could see me holding up a beer and giving my brother a high five.
He thought to himself "Bloody hell im in London and i still cant get away from those crazy Saints supporters:D:D"

Christ how many spuds are in that side, but a mate and l always say how much Robbo reminds us of Sean Ralph-Smith

Ralphy was ok as a depth player and Skeeter was ok as well. Bardsley was ok until he got cleaned up by Ablett i think. Jack Daniels... the poor man's Clint Jones. Brett Cook was thrown to the wolves in 97, poor sod.

I'd completely forgotten Chris Hollow...

Ha ha, good story!

It was a memorable one for me too, as a 14 year old, it was the first time I saw us win a match under lights live against North. They were the night specialists back then so a win against them was always good. And Plugger was injured making the win all the rarer. I remember there being a lot of drunk/happy Saints fans that night in the last quarter.

Met Davenport and a few reserves players in a pub once. Davo was an absolute ripper of a bloke. Introduced me to all the Magoos players and had a few beers and a long chin wag.
Not a great player, but a great bloke IMO.

Only 14 LOL you young whippersnapper:p
Think i was about 24 at the time:D Good memories:thumbsu:

Was at the Kardinia park game when Ablett smashed poor Bardsleys chin WIDE open. Blood everywhere. Neither player was the same afterwards. Ablett got a long suspension and struggled afterwards with Gary Ayers as coach.

Geez. Brings back memories. who was number 25 for us that year? Can't recall him. Sheez McAdam was smooth.
Chris Hollow came from and played for Dandenong VFA

Those that are a bit nervous about what we are doing this trade period with letting go some senior players should probably remind themselves of the 2012 off-season.

We effectively turned Goddard, Cripps, Pick 12, Pick 34, Pick 53 and Pick 70 odd into

Tom Lee :thumbsu::thumbsu:
Tom Hickey :thumbsu::thumbsu:
Nathan Wright :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
Spencer White :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
Josh Saunders :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
Brodie Murdoch :thumbsu:
Dylan Roberton :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
Lewis Pierce - leave that up to the Sandy watchers, though you guys say he looks good to date

Number of :thumbsu: indicates how much I like them personally (I'm a giant wrap for Saunders :D)

Pelchen and Bains have the runs on the board as far as I'm concerned

We are rebuilding a foundation here. These are only the younger players (25 and under) that I'm fairly certain have a good AFL future based on what I've seen to date (so there are a few missing but for me it's the guys I'm not sure about):

FB: Geary XXXX Webster
HB: Wright XXXX Roberton
C: Saunders Curren Newnes
HF: Markworth White Savage
FF: Lee XXXX XXXX
R: Hickey Steven Armo
Int: Ross

We are a million miles from where Melbourne were at any stage. If we can add 2 class runners, Longer and Bruce we will be up fairly quickly.

All they need to do is delist him and we pick him up as a delisted free agent (as we did with Roberton)

Wouldn't it be safer to get him for pick 100 or something in the trade period.
There is more to the plans than this for sure.
We will end up with someone good at PSD 3 and shouldn't need to waste that pick on Delaney.
Keep the faith

Can't have Craig Devonport in the worst side... will never forget the Queens Birthday game against Collingwood in 92. 80k, Devonport gets a public spray over the fence by Ken Sheldon in front of the MCC members and then in the last down by 5 points picks up the ball 40 metres out against the boundary line and bananas the winner and Saints win by a point. :)

I also remember that game against Geelong the week before that North game... belted them by 70 points... something like 176 to 103... kicking goals out of our ass!

Delisted Free Agency is different to the PSD.

Doesn't cost a pick and Delaney can choose who he wants to play for. We did this with Roberton last year.
