How do AFL get to determine this? o_O I know they are required to put sanctions into place, but surely the judgement on what evidence is sufficient rests with ASADA, as the body responsible for administering WADA codes?

I thought the same, to the best of my knowledge the AFL have no say or power whatsoever in respect of infraction notices, they merely have the option of implementing further penalties on the club re monetary related and/or draft selection related.
I hope ASADA come down hard on the AFL and Essendon and the cult leader Hirdy.

So if players get banned, hird life banned, will the * supporters turn on hird?

Zero chance - they are too deluded to ever turn on golden boy.

He was going to set the record straight but is still hiding. Still no alarm bells ringing with the essendon morons.

kl, ASADA advise the AFL of the findings of the ARDVP, the panel that determines if the athletes have a case to answer, and put forward a recommendation. It is the AFL's responsibility to actually issue the punishment. They can do so in accordance with the ASADA recommendations or not, but if they don't they will be in for a hell of a fight with ASADA and WADA.

Question is then will they be willing to go head to head with these guys, and risk fed govt funding in the process.

No chance they will bite the hand that feeds it. If ASADA and WADA want infractions they will get them - no matter how opposed the AFL is to them.

And we will soon see if that is indeed the case.

It's coming!

And we will soon see if that is indeed the case.

And hopefully that soon is within the next 3 weeks. If it is now just a case of the lawyers dotting the Is and crossing the Ts, you would think the AFL would want it done before the season starts, especially if infractions are involved.

Will be a test for Brad and the team to keep the boys' heads screwed on if the * saga starts headlining again in the build-up to round 1.

Just had an interesting conversation with a person close to the investigation. They suggested that ASADA wants to proceed with infractions but the AFL is obstructing the process by demanding harder evidence. Also said Dank is an unreliable witness so focus has been joining the dots from * investigation rather than pursuing him. They think they've got enough to issue infractions to 10-12 * players but AFL says evidence isn't strong enough. Andruska has had enough - apparently she's been the subject of some nasty threats! Vlad is also watching his back and apparently aggressively looking for another job, preferably overseas.

PS> My source wanted me to post this to stir the pot!

Threats wouldn't surprise me, and Demetriou and the AFL obstructing wouldn't surprise anyone. I would think the strength of the evidence would be judged first by the AVDRP - even though they are appointed by the government, the members can't really be seen to be pushed around by the politics. ASADA just need to make sure they have all their evidence as tight as possible before handing the files over.

From the AFL's point of view, the best thing now would be for it all to go away. But next best would be a result that at least brooks no argument. Remembering there are thousands of people who still think Hird has been harshly dealt with and he and the club should be exonerated, it will take a strong case to convince them. Plus the *fc love to spend money on lawyers. It will need to be good evidence for AD and the Commission not to be waging an ongoing war on several fronts.

What's with the red??? Ring that bell already. Come on down Jimmy von Hird

Just getting into the spirit of all things red at the moment. That rocker is giving it a fair flogging!
Any word on how Macca is travelling with the current news?

I'd imagine he's contemplating putting out the birthday candles with his anus ATM.

Anyone hoping for infractions soon needs to be patient. I doubt any will come even this season.

APOLOGIES FOR THE INTRUSION ... but ...

Ahem, I don't suppose your certain player who shares a surname with a character out of Sherlock Holmes is in the 10-12?

What upsets me most about this is that it wasn't announced on Macca18's birthday!
Just thought I'd visit the early pages of this great thread and the quoted is genius in its simplicity. Happy Birthday Macca! Please don't cry on the candles this time!
