Some drongo wants to make a lame point about the idiocy of not drafting Hill the Younger.A few crew pay enough attention suggest it's drongovillagegoss.

We didn't have the necessary culture, at that stage, (Hawthorn did), to take a punt on him, and not many clubs do.
Fremantle, having just appointed Ross Lyon as coach, didn't have the necessary culture to recruit a player whose brother was already at the club?

OK. Utterly fanciful stuff, but OK.

Cripps is 1st class dud. Ross Lyon gave him two games at the Saints and then sent him back to Sandringham. That's how bad he was.

He's in the Matt Spangher category.

When Cripps wanted to come home he didn't even approach Freo as he knew Ross didn't want him.

Another downhill skier like Josh Hill, Gaff and Shuey.

I can't believe we took Ballantyne over Tom Swift. We really got bent over on that one.

Shame the Eagles took Brad Shepperd at pick 7 because we were then forced to draft Nat Fyfe at pick 20 whose always getting suspended.

You said it yourself - Lyon was only just appointed and he had enough problems on his hands with Clancee's fat arse, Walters skinfolds and the general attitude of the playing group.

Why take a risk on a player that had a well known knock on him when you have to reinvent the wheel with what you've got already?

And 12 months later the club feels confident enough on a massive enough culture change to recruit Josh Simpson.

You're talking crap.

Sorry Clay, but it is you who is talking crap.

A year is a hell of a long time in footy and the players en masse have acknowledged the difference in culture since Lyon's arrival.

What, you think that he just waltzed in and waved his magic wand and everything was fine and dandy inside a week??

Put down the crack pipe.

Further to that - The knock on Simpson was that he was a new father with a teenage girl and interstate clubs were worried about the 'go home" factor.

There was nothing wrong with his attitude at all.

No crack pipe here, nor do such empty cliches hold any meaning. Club recruited Mellington the year before and Simpson after. In between they don't feel capable of recruiting a player who already has a brother on the list. It's garbage and you know it.

I knew he was not as dedicated as Steven to his training also thought his kicking was not as good?

Regardless, by the end of the year Josh Simpson will hopefully find whatever it is that switches him on menatlly for games. Because ATM at WAFL level when he is 'On' he is basically the most damaging player on the ground this year - just needs to do that consistently and then transfer that to the next level and this argument about the Hill boys will be forgotten.

Mellington ticked all the boxes on arrival and played some very good footy. It was later that his dickheadedness evolved and he got the DCM..

Having a brother on the list has SFA to do with it in Hill's case. Not everyone has to follow the Danihers example, and why do so many other brothers/cousins play on seperate teams if having a family member established in a squad is a prerequisite of success?

It must be a bong.
