Take a look at this story, and in particular the caption below the photo at the top.

I had to spend a few minutes deciding whether the whole thing was just a big piss-take but have finally concluded that they are in fact serious.

The picture does indeed show a "
Dramatic re-enactment of how ominous the cat might be, should it indeed be a panther, and should it be prowling from a tree branch.

That's hilarious. And yes, it is a slow news day in Perth seeing as the storm fizzled out last night...

Yeah, doesn't really stack up against hacking a missing 12 year old girl's phone. Or the phones of victims of terror bombings.

The real problem with the MSM is the way that it is used as propaganda tool of the establishment. If you do a little digging you will learn that the connections between the CIA and major news outlets have been open secrets for decades, and these connections have only grown stronger as media ownership has become more and more concentrated.

'Why should I care?', you might ask. Because propaganda is used to condition us to accept government decisions and actions before and after they are made official. Decisions and actions such as taking us into new wars.

In the US, intel agencies have their favourite outlets for doing their psyops. One of them is the Washington Post. Let's take a look at a recent edition of WaPo.

I suggest you pay close attention to the 'news' that is broadcast/printed here in Australia over the next few days and weeks. And if you don't believe that 'your' own intel agencies would be in cahoots with your 'news' outlets, look into Operation Mockingbird. Or, at the very least, just watch this following clip.

EDIT: Added 'official' to second para, second sentence.

Quite timely, I caught my first 6pm news bulletin in years last night.

The second "story", hosted by Pete Costello's very serious son, was a 5 minute cavalcade of drama, pictures and witness interviews about passenger train delays.

Trains were late. How the **** is that news? Who could possibly give a shit?

Anyway...

I'm more shocked that an Illinois Nazi uses such venomous words like "awful" in his media condemnation.
I apologise for that, but I felt that this case needed the strongest possible language of condemnation.

That's the thing, lots of people do give a shit about such things.

People have weird priorities. Late trains are more newsworthy to many people than the latest suicide bombing or genocide being perpetrated in some far flung and irrelevant (in the minds of Joe and Jane Average) part of the world.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- the MSM's prioritising of what is news is disgraceful, and just reinforces insularity and stupidity among people. Chicken v Egg perhaps; you could definitely argue they do that because it reflects what so many consider to be 'news'. All in all, it's a vicious cycle.

Ian Morris is a peer-reviewed historian with a PhD from Cambridge. You are a moron.
I didn't criticise Morris; I am drawing attention to the way his theory/book has been used in conjunction with nuclear imagery and claims that 'war makes us safer, richer' on the front page of a major newspaper to condition people to the idea that war is good.

Or put another way, WAR IS PEACE.

This seems as good a thread as any to ask: can someone please recommend me a good, unbiased online news source that covers Australia and world news?

I've always used news.com.au, but that has become an absolute joke (true, it was starting from pretty low to begin with), with far more tabloid shit than actual news and the standard of 'journalism' is simply appalling.

Thanks in advance.

We should set up a thread where we predict the next evolutionary stage of SB thinking. Would make an interesting (albeit predictable) psychological case study.

The news has ratings to think about, like any other form of entertainment (albeit generally with more timeslot protection). If shows like The Voice n co are ratings juggernauts, then I hardly think SBS World News or Al Jazeera is going to be a suitable model for those mindful of ratings. It's not a conspiracy, it's strictly business. People seeking the news that interests them will always find a medium that caters to them (especially in this day and age). Even SB.
