I think if Dusty keeps playing the way he is he might make it.
Nope. Gray, Elliot and Breust easily beat him for forward spots, and all the midfielders are ahead of him.

Malceski Hooker Simpson
Beams Pendlebury Rockliff
Fyfe Hawkins Johnson
Gray N.Riewoldt Breust
Sandilands Ablett JP.Kennedy

Purely positional, but can we please put Nick Reiwoldt at CHF! Hawkins possibly although I am far from convinced, you might actually name Buddy and N.Reiwoldt in the key posts. Buddy has had an underrated year. Also someone like Jay Shultz surely has to be considered. This hasn't been a great year for full forwards. Kennedy and Jack Reiwoldt bashed up an under 18's side in GWS but apart from that, it is slim pickings.

Not sure Rockliff makes a starting spot, have him on the fringe, and Daniel Hannerbery has been better.

Boomer anyone? Don't be agist. He's won our games against Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, and Fremantle basically off his own boot. I know he's not popular with a lot of people, and I know he is 36 (and not an exciting emerging star), but if he continues this form for the rest of the season he has to come into consideration.

For me no other North player can be considered at the point. Lindsay Thomas has been ok but there have been quite a few better smalls this year, Cunnington and Nic Dal Santo have been great but have no chance against all the comp's great midfielders. Thompson has had a few great games but has not been as good as last year and there have been better players in his position. Boomer gets a place on the bench and no other north players if AA was done tomorrow in my opinion.

Borderline, have him fractionally outside at this stage. I'm finding it difficult to place him in the side. In the midfield there are too many for him to get past. In the forwardline Bruest and Gray have been better. Possibly a bench spot, and that is where I would have him if he makes it. Have NDS really close though!

The problem with Boomer is where do you pick him? He hasn't kicked enough goals to be a small forward which means he's competing with midfielders for a forward spot. He also has not gotten an assist outside of the Bulldogs game, which would work against him competing for a half forward spot. At this stage, i'm not sure you could justify him over any of Breust, Gray, Beams, and depending on how many midfielders they shove in the forward line, he would be competing with Wingard, Elliot, and a few others.

This is my problem with him. If he kicks 25-30 goals he would have a case but I still have no idea where you will pick him. Gray will gick 45+, Bruest probably 50+...and these are the starters, then add Wingard in. That is 3 of the forwards straight away. The question is whether you pick Harvey or a Luke Parker for instance on the bench, I favour Parker at this stage.

Small forwards have been so much better than key forwards this year, they NEED to have 3-4 of them in the team this year, otherwise, we riot. Nah but seriously, if they choose 3 key forwards and 1 small forward and 2 mids it would be nuts, unless 3 key forwards forwards end up dominating this second half. Breust, Gray and Elliot(with Wingard 4th imo) should all be in the side at this stage whether they are on the bench or forward 50. Brodie Smith with be the best HBF this year so far in my opinion, so damaging with his long kick.

Wingard wouldn't be in the AA yet, good season but not up to last season he is a bit more inconsistent now that he's playing deep. that said he performs when he needs to and has game changing performances against the good teams which is probably if picked would be the reason he gets in. also Gray is more midfield than forward now, but he's a lock to this point and could be ports only inclusion Boak/Schulz borderline.

IMO Franklin is 1 solid week away from being in.

Since we're going off statistics, West Coast legend and the only John Worsfold medalist Matty Priddis would be a lock in the 40 man squad at this stage.

10th in the league for Disposals
7th in Tackles
5th in Contested Possessions

67 Disposals,17 tackles and 4 goals in the last 2 weeks.

Lock him in.

do they pick 10 midfielders? Then no he isn't a lock.

Yes , in last years team they did -

Griffin,Selwood,Watson,Pendlebury,Ablett,Jack,Dangerfield,Boak,Swan and Hannebery.

Thats without including mids playing other positions like McVeigh and Mitchell.

Not that i was actually being serious with that last post though.

Boomer is still on par if not a better mid than both and in the side (AA) that is picked would kick as many as the other 2. He is in the 8th placed side and is top 20 in goals and possessions in the league for mids.He is exceptional as a mid who kicks goals. Beams would be better at this but Harvey is still very good
