90 minutes of quality attacking football against 1 of the better sides in Europe (albeit missing a few key players), 1 week out from the start of the season, and this is what you're going to focus on? Haha alright mate! :thumbsu::rolleyes:

Why are you so mad? Can you not discuss things that go against Liverpool in here or do I have to circlejerk with you?

Not at all mate, post whatever you like! Just seems a bit odd to solely focus on 1 bit of crappy refereeing when there was so much more to take from what was a strong final hitout before the season starts.

All I did was quote your video saying the goal shouldn't have been allowed. You seem really angry for some reason.

full game here, i missed the first half recording the power podcast so i'm in for some nice football this afternoon. :~) that youtube channel seems pretty good

What a lovely surprise to be able to watch that.
Feel goals won't be a problem this season, despite losing Suarez, and the defence looked very solid with Lovren there.
Liked the look of Manquillo, very much liked him in fact, Sterling and Coutinho looked bigger, stronger and hungrier.
Lot to like, will be an absorbing season.

So much of our play went through whichever flank Sterling's in, he's gonna be important. In reality we probably need one more wide player and a striker on top of that, then we'd be set up front

All the talk of having to try and replace Suarez and I think instead of who we bring in it will be how much Sterling and Coutinho improve. Only pre-season but both have looked just as dangerous as Suarez, without the finishing perhaps but certainly in creating something out of nothing themselves. I really hope Coutinho can keep up the ridiculous play he's been producing into the season, real pleasure to see him improve, I was thinking he might even struggle to make the best team going into the pre-season but certainly will be now.

If Coutinho carries this into the season proper then he'd be displaying a level that I thought he'd be another season or two away from

Hopefully Markovic and Lallana can make an impact as well, but if you add another pacy option in there, like a Konoplyanka, then we would have a lot of fire power to change any game. Kono plays a bit like Sterling albeit with probably less physicality and power

Lol what happened to that guy? Shipped off to West Ham yet?

Stuck in Dnipro still, got knocked out in the CL qualifiers, so they're nowhere

He is a very good deal waiting for someone to take him, probably would be 9-10 mil with the release clause and contract running down

IMO our full strength team was the team we fielded last night but Lallana for Can and Moreno for Johnsons if we sign him. Sakho for Skrtel if his form drops but Skrtel deserves his spot in the team after last season. We won't sign any other first team players IMO apart from Moreno, but I'd still be quite satisfied with our transfer business if we sign Moreno and Bony from here on in. Last night showed we don't need a 'marquee' bullshit type like everyone wants. We have a TEAM

Lallana won't be playing where Can is, we were basically playing with Can and Gerrard deeper and Henderson everywhere, I don't see that base really changing unless it's against really shit opposition at Anfield

Lambert still looked immobile the mins he was on, actually stuck out like a sore thumb. That is why we need a top striker, someone who can compete with Sturridge ability wise

My lineup for Soton,

Mignolet
Manquillo/Skrtel/Lovren/Johnson (perhaps Moreno)
Can/Gerrard/Henderson
Sterling/Sturridge/Coutinho

I would expect Johnson to be out of the team pretty quickly when Moreno arrives and Manquillo plays like he did against dortmund.

It's only early days but Lambert desperately needs a goal, any type of goal, to settle himself down. Has a bit of the Peter Crouch when he first joined feels about it already.
