We live in a society where you are given 2nd chances. A chance to redeem past wrongs. Look at jockeys, they get caught having a bet on another and are brought back like heroes. James Hird served his penalty, he accepted it under duress, he is allowed to continue and be given that 2nd chance

Some classic delusion
He is a warrior, my leader!

It's straight out of the Movementarians handbook.

Francis Leach must read Bay 13, on Offsiders this morning he was calling Essendon people Kool-Aid drinkers.

Caro was ripping into them too god bless her.

Yes, we don't understand what is going on and we are not knowledgable on football history or who the key players are. Heck, we don't even care what this issue has done to the the game.

Which clubs reputation is worth shit in the eyes of any opposition supporter?

Pretty much every club in the afl has a shitty reputation for one reason or another especially on bigfooty.

I have had people who know very little about the situation tell me essendon are a disgrace big ******* deal. 90% of the time its because we are a rival club and the actual issue doesnt really bother them.

Same with Hird, the hate directed at him by most of the people is simply coz they have actually heard of him and because he was a great player that played for a rival club. Most could not give **** or dont even know what he actually did. Hell, the most common response I get to what he did wrong is he is arrogant and injected the players.

How much hate would have been directed at our senior coach in this situation if his name didn't happen to be James Hird?

This is the funniest part about the Essendon supporters, they're missing the point when it comes to Hird. The reason he's the target is because he's stood there and taken advantage of his standing in their eyes as the golden boy, anyone else would have been booted by now and the club would've conceded.

When you f*** up this badly in sport, you get sacked, and your reputation ends up in tatters (which will happen anyway here), that's how it's supposed to work, but of course the messiah thinks he's special and that the rules don't apply to him, so he's going to make sure this thing is as ugly as possible on the way out.

Funniest thing about this though, is that by the time Hird's thrown out of the game, he won't only carry the tag of a cheat, but also that of an undignified narcissist.

Tanya does have a lot of notes though.........
And yes, he can never recover from this. But, i hope he contests this decision as well.

And then a bit of salivating at the prospect of fellating *hird
He took another one for the team. He is a warrior, my leader! It seems the players love him and that's likely to be growing as he takes the heat whilst everyone waits. Go Hirdy!

BigJoeD speaks the truth on his own board, and this is the respect his post received back. We got your back buddy. At least you understand what has occurred and i applaud your ballsyness in saying what you did on the coolaid board.

Evans is a weak individual and hiding. Hird is standing strong amongs an unethical barrage from a few afl communication specialists protecting their own interests.

None of them care about us. Our players and supporters. Get a grip you campaigner

You should've seen the posts that were deleted - Amstaff's got nothing on some of these blokes

It had been a while since i had a look in there. It really is crazy town. You gotta wonder if some of the people posting in there are troll accounts.

Re: Paddy Ryder:

Lol the shit storm in here is hilarious.

He's gone, but we are Essendon, we are bigger than Paddy, bigger than ASADA, bigger than all of this. We will move on, and we will be the first team to 17.

We want a ready to go best 22 player, but clubs aren't going to part with one. It will be a young player, not yet established but showing promise. Hopefully we do our homework and we nab a gem. We want a top 5 draft pick, we deserve a top 5 draft pick, but it may not be. Hopefully we draft another gem, wherever it lands.

I'm glad I spent my time watching awesome displays of football this weekend, rather than trawling through how many pages of this? I think everyone needs to hug and make up.

I hope the Hawks deny the COLAs next week.

BigJoeD your comments on the essendon board give me hope that I can get back to hating essendon for being salary cap cheats alone:p.

It'd be a trolololol if we said 'anything' was 'sack James Hird' ... and then we refused to do the deal.

If you can't take the piss out of yourself sometimes you have something wrong with you, I think.

Anyway. I take the mickey out of, or criticise, Hird quite a bit where I've seen it fit. I've made my opinion known to the club.

But apparently I'm still the coward. Meh, can't win 'em all I suppose.

I must say, I don't mind tamer Bosk. ;)
You seem like a reasonable bloke Doss . If we were ever to cross paths out in the real world I suspect you'd think the same of me. The invective I've become known for here I save for the internet almost exclusively and before anyone uses that to label me a "keyboard warrior" please allow me to point out I honestly don't care.

Supporting one's team is all about passion for me. I get that many Essendon supporters often speak or type with theirs hearts rather than their heads and that perhaps we ought to make allowances for this. Unfortunately there's a line of good taste (or rather poor) that too many of your buddies have crossed since the saga broke and while naturally they'd say the same of me I'm aware the vast ocean of neutrals see things my way. Does that justify my harsh criticism of Hird and his sycophantic cohorts? Absolutely, though I'm probably the sort who'd keep on firing away even if it didn't.

My advice to you and every other Essendon supporter is to do exactly what I'd be doing in your shoes - stand by the club. The caveat being that continuing to support Hird, Little, and every other coach or administrator involved in 2012 is not only counter-intuitive and counterproductive but immensely harmful to the very thing you're trying to support.
It's almost like the case of a young girl being abused by her father but refusing to speak out, in fear he'll no longer love her. From the outside its painfully obvious her stance is only fueling the situation but we can only guess how different things must feel inside that wretched circle of hell and misery.

I couldn't agree more Fyfie_.

After saying that the armchair psychologist in me reckons a key reason we've all delighted in tearing shreds of James Albert is because a tiny part of us is insanely jealous how brutally successful he's been at manipulated his employer.
How many of us wouldn't happily thumb our noses at the world if we had James' gift for acting like a complete campaigner while still being treated like a saint?

60sbomber has been into the brown acid Kool-Aid again
I contest it.
Hird should not stand down even if one or more players get suspended.

Hird would be no more or less responsible as a consequence of us losing a tribunal hearing, than he would be if we were to win that tribunal hearing.
In other words, the outcome of the tribunal hearing itself does not determine whether Hird has done wrong or is in some way blameworthy.
The outcome of the tribunal hearings will hinge on burden of proof and how much the tribunal is beholden to the AFL or ASADA and wants to uphold their position.
This is just like Middleton's judgement. It was a statement by him of support for the government agency under threat and an unwillingness to rein in its authority and power to basically do whatever it likes. It wasn't, in my opinion, a ruling based on legal principles. Had he been of a different mind and wanting to challenge the way ASADA operated, he would have had no trouble justifying exactly the opposite ruling to what he did.
You can't blame our QCs for thinking they had a case and that they might win. They were equally as "right" as Middleton in law. He just had an outcome he favoured, and found the means to justify it.
Even ASADA's own lawyers thought they would lose at least some aspects of the case.
There is no smart v dumb, right v wrong. Just those who won and lost for reasons that are not always to do with the merits of their position.

Similarly, the tribunal will come down one way or the other. We will probably lose. Experience in this whole shit saga tells me that. It doesn't matter how weak their evidence is, it doesn't matter how much in the right we might be. It hasn't helped us so far, and it probably won't now. The tribunal will come down on the side it feels it wants to, for whatever reasons, and it will find the logic to support whatever outcome it wants to find.

None of this makes Hird any more or less responsible or blameworthy.

I think he might be my favourite *donialist.

On Ryder:

I think Port and any other club will quickly learn that this is what they need to be thinking if they want Ryder.

I'd be asking for Wines and a pick.

They're only getting you know, the best ruckman in the comp who is also a very capable forward and even backman, who's had 7 years of work put into him and is hitting his peak.

I don't think this is gonna be one of those "just get us a first round pick" scenarios.
