You need to make it a lot better deal, Geelong won't roll over easy on this, otherwise all our players will just leave for a bigger pay check. They will stand firm and make him sweat in his jocks until they get a deal they deserve.

At least I hope

Well at the moment you are staring at a pick in the 20s from the Lions. I think we would entertain pick 11.

Shake on it.

What are the Cats current top two picks?

I think (and only because only second rounders are on the table) that if we offered pick 11 we would ask for your second rounder in return as well, which is still better than what Brisbane should be able to offer.

Fair is irrelevant.

why doesn't that cut both ways? Sure, we may not have the leverage of a contract, but nor is Bundy an unrestricted free agent. If we are a strong club, the middle ground here is the draft. That's not preferable for any of the parties, so we have our share of leverage too.

With Lonners, I can see how he would feel after we tried to get Frawley. "They are giving me one more year, then the boot."

Well if you want to explore your options, then don't re-sign before the season starts. Leave yourself uncontracted until seasons end. But of course, you take the risk associated with that, including injury and recruits. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Can't we do a three way trade with West Coast and Brisbane where Geelong gets pick 11, Brisbane gets Bundy and West Coast gets ???

I'm not a fan of ???. Hasn't come on.

Bundy is pissing on the club.

First he leads them on agreeing to terms, then he waits until it's well into trade week (after Greenwood, O'rourke etc have picked other clubs) to tell us he is leaving to QLD, then narrows it down to Brisbane because of $, even though he knows they have lower currency, all after he has done some personal mistakes..... and we are expected to be accommodating to him?

I can see why we were accommodating to club champions, I can see why we would let Lonergan go for the service he has done (even though I'd rather him stay) but there is NO WAY we should allow ourselves to be bent over by a player who has treated us this badly.

Our Christensen trading strategy should be:

1. Talk with Brisbane and get their best offer.

2a - if that offer is 21 and 25, or a gun player (unlikely) or a low teens first rounder (which they don't have) - accept.

2b - if that offer is 21 OR 25 - we tell them thanks but no thanks we give you to the weekend to come up with a plan to better it or we close talks and go to step 3.

3 - Sit Bundy down and tell him that given the reasons in my first paragraph, he will be required to nominate 2nd and third options because we are treating the club above the individual.

4 - Deal with other clubs (WC have pick 11, GWS have 7 & 19 plus surplus of young players, GC may yet throw in 15 last minute) and only go back to Brisbane if they up their offer.

How on earth is the draft "leverage"?
"Give us what we want or we'll take nothing"
Big leverage.

History shows it's not much leverage at all. I'm just saying fairness isn't a consideration. Market forces will decide. We won't do better than 21. Accept it and move on.

If he's running away then surely Perth is as good a place as any, and we get a fair pick in return.

To have the audacity to nominate a club as an uncontracted player who for all indications was going to sign, I don't care what his personal issues are, he's a selfish, greedy little campaigner.

With Lonners, I can see how he would feel after we tried to get Frawley. "They are giving me one more year, then the boot."
So he can go somewhere else next year then.

It's saying on the AFL app this morning that Bundy is contracted... I'm losing my freakin mind...

If he was contracted then picks in the 20s wouldn't be even discussed.

I did not have any ideas what Brisbane would send your way. Well do you know what can you get from Brisbane. eg Picks or Players?

Not sure what Brisbane would give up for pick 11 that we would find worthy of that pick. We'd ask for someone like Rich.

Big leverage.

It's leverage because neither party gets what they want, as opposed to us apparently accepting whatever scraps Brisbane throw our way because we have "no other choice". Trust me, better to get nothing here than take serious unders. It will send a message that resonates within the walls of the club, and outside the club. Fair compensation, or you can choose to walk. That should be the option for Bundy and his club/s of choice.

Your Right. With Brisbane getting Christensen and Beams and with the midfielders that they have (Rockliff, Redden, Aish, Zorko ect) would mean there would be no room for Rich. Besides, he is from WA and would he want to move back home?

Well I believe we tried once before and he re-signed with them.

If that is the option, I'm happy for the market to decide via the draft, personally. I'd accept the stand and move on with a greater respect for our club. We just have different views here. You are of the school to grab whatever we can, whereas I only see the pitfalls in accepting unders.
