So why shouldnt players look after themselves first and foremost? Dont ask for loyaty if you wont give it in return. And for the flogs bitching about Bundy "choosing only Brisbane" He has said Brisbane is his preference - its not an ultimatum. And at the end of the day - if he thinks thats gonna be the best thing for him, why not go for it. The inability from supporters to think about players as human beings as opposed to commodities is actually really sad.

I'll put it this way, in my neck of the woods, if you stuff up due to your own moral or ethical misfortune, you bear the full brunt of what is
coming to you. Only you take responsibility to resolve those issues, as in my previous life, it could mean life or death. Just the total lack of

They're entitled to look after themselves. Absolutely. But please, let's not pretend doing this is some kind of arduous chore that they are doing out of the goodness of their hearts. It is a very cushy job. They get extremely well paid, have an entire club and media department on hand to cover up 99% of their indiscretions, and have almost no accountability.

Speak with GC, GWS. Bundy cannot hold the club ransom, just as the club won't hold Bundy ransom.

Both need to compromise and that is, a selection of 3 clubs that all fit Bundy's criteria of being a quiet town.

Bundy should have NO SAY on 1 particular club. That is ludicrous given the circumstances.

If we submit ourselves to going down this path, we are KILLING ourselves in the short medium and long term. This is not an indication of a 'well run club'.

We are so far behind the good clubs in terms of list trading it's not funny. As the landscape is changing, we are not only get left behind in the wake with our outdated tactics, we are drowning.

As I'm not a professional athlete I'd be pretty surprised myself. Relevance to discussion? Zero. You also have no idea what my or any other posters' athletic attributes are - there might some handy types out there.

If an AFL player cannot get over injury issues, or a pre-season, whilst getting paid more than the average joe by about 100%, then far out.

Excuses, excuses. Lets not give them a cop out by claiming mental health issues. They are extremely well paid and well supported. They have every
medical issue covered. It's their own decisions, to gamble, to do stupid things regarding recovery, or not look after themselves by not drinking or
taking other vices.

A lot of footballers are bored, so they gamble heavily, then lose money, then drink....then get injured or vice versa. There is a lot they can do in
their lives without having to do most of those things. THAT IS THEIR DECISION.

Claiming mental health, stress is a load of crap. Stress is involved in every part of life, so to spruke that excuse is a load of BS. It also highlights that woe is me attitude that these guys are after. Oh life is so tough for me yadda yadda.

Try living in others shoes. I bet these guys wouldn't be able to handle a lot of 9-5 jobs either.

Not to mention players receiving a nice pay cheque while injured. Footy clubs offer counseling and psychologists these days and act as a welfare organization for players. Which is fine, but people cant claim they are hard done by.

Absolutely. There is a difference between asking an old Steven King or Josh Hunt where they would prefer to play and take peanuts to show respect and accommodate them, but when it comes to young extremely talented players we need to take a different stance.

I like what Collingwood are doing. Beams is an out and out gun and they know it. They aren't going to bend over and get violated just because "I want to go home". We need to show some balls here and get what we deserve because a pick in the 20's for our best young player is theft. I will be very disappointed in the club if we give in to poor little Bundy and get a second round pick in the end.

And so he should. It appears as though they had an understanding, yet he has dropped them in it at the last minute, where
they had no contingency whatsoever. That's an a$$hole act in my opinion.

Good posting from CatsmaninUSA. l respectfully, and fervently, disagree with the narrowness of his (or Bundy's) perspective regarding the way Geelong treats its players. It has been a profoundly positive, supportive and collectively successful (FFS we won flags together!) club culture to my knowledge and something worth honouring. Worth giving Geelong the chance to work it out together for a year first?

Any word on why this request has come in so late? It seems to have really shocked the club and hurt our capacity to get a fair trade.

p.s. l met Bundy briefly myself once. Seemed to be a lovely and indeed shy fella. But once again let's see what Geelong can do to help him with that. Not just take off at a moment's notice

In the past I have heard depression being described as an 'illness of affluence'. Wonder if that is also a factor here.

Are you serious? So a gun player from your midfield just ups and legs it for his own reasons, albeit from his own poor choices, yet we
have to take a player who is only a 5% chance of making his grade? It is far too simplistic to say oh well, we'll get a pick in the 20s,
we get something from it.

Been shaking my head reading some of the stuff about Christensen and Lonergan, a superb midfielder with his best footy still ahead of him, and one of the best fullbacks in the competition yet many here seem happy to move them on for virtual scraps.

Hope the club is taking a stronger position then a lot of posters here.
