That is interesting. Why would you meet another employer if you have all ready said your taking the job? Maybe he seeing how much coin they will offer him?

So the message from Emma Quale last night is that Bundy is out of contract, but with that being the case this line in the article about him choosing Brisbane seems a tad weird:
The Gold Coast also have less room in their salary cap compared with Brisbane to accommodate his estimated $400,000 pay packet.

If he is out of contract, couldn't GC negotiate a new contract with him and maybe pay less next year and adjust it over the remaining years of a deal so it aves out at $400k a season - or is the $400k his asking price and he won't budge from it, even if it averages out at that over a 3/4 year deal. Just seems a weird line for a player out of contract where his salary isn't set for next year. Things are just confusing.

I think you're reading too much into it. Swap "packet" for "demand" and it makes sense.

I know there's a lot of successful folk in here but that's just ridiculous money for 21-23yr old's. 200K! You can virtually have your first house entirely paid off before your 25th birthday

And that was just an example Bob, there are plenty of people earning well below that.

That doesn't mean I'm dismissing any potentially serious mental health issues, simply was responding to a very uninformed comment about 'you try get through a preseason'

It's only about 135k take home.
But you'd be able to service a 500k investment portfolio loan pretty easily.

I think a lot of us are over the club putting the player first in these circumstances.
We support the Club, put the clubs best interests first for once.

As has been mentioned plenty of times, including last night - unless we could have got a pick higher than 50 and in particular a pick in the top 30 for King, then whatever trade was done for him wouldn't have really made much difference to our eventual draft that year. Pick 50 was our last live picked used on Dan McKenna, we then used pick 60 on Donohue (f&s selection) - do you think St Kilda would have seriously offered a a pick for King that was higher then 50 or 40? What pick should we have got from the Saints - they had already given #26 to the Swans for Schneider & Dempster, so the only other picks of theirs which would have impacted our draft were either #9 or #42 and neither of those would have happened. Even if we traded King for pick 57 we still pick up Donohue and it makes no difference to our drafting that year.

We get it that you don't like some of the trade that Geelong have done in the past, but maybe go look at the draft order & other trades done during those years and offer a realistic alternative as to what we could have done instead and if it would have actually made any difference to the end result.

This is like most of my dealings with insurance companies.

You lose something, or someone pinches it, you think you're covered, but then they take out your excess, plus depreciation, yada yada and you end up with half the good damn value of what you had - and there ain't a single god damn thing you can do about it.

nah' it's a pipe dream in my eyes but I know Dangerfield and Gazza are close mates and keep in touch often and rumor has it Dangerfield is very much a target for 2015 so wouldn't surprise me if Junior wants to move back to VIC and maybe play alongside Dangerfield.

Ablett (32-33yrs), Dangerfield, Selwood, Duncan, Caddy, Guthrie, Jansen would be a decent midfield brigade until Junior hanged up the boots.

I still think too many fans are locked into the zone mentality of the past.

Played for the Falcons = must want to come back to Geelong. It drives an awful lot of trade discussion. Has there been a single ex-Falcon the club has successfully lured back?

It defies logic that Ablett would want to come home.

By all rights GC should challenge for finals next year and contend for flags from 2016-17.

Those same years are when we will lose some of the club's all time great players.

This isn't like LeBron James 'going home' after winning back to back titles at Miami and wanting to do the same at the Cavs. Ablett would be turning down potential/probable success at the Suns for a team that shouldn't be challenging.
