Yes but Knockers doesnt have injury or personal issues and how does the old saying go - tall players don't get shorter. Talls are always in demand.

Except those that can't tap to advantage, take a mark, kick a goal or rack up anymore than 2 possessions a game. That's why we are stuck with him!

Rebuilding Blues trade away the Ratten era

McKay said the Blues did not want to part with a second-round selection for Jones, an enigmatic forward so far in his career. "We are very keen to hold our second-round pick and get a good young person through the draft with that one," he said. "We are hopeful of getting something done, if we don't, there is the other option, which we don't want to go down – to go through the pre-season draft."

This is the kind of crap we should have been doing at the end of '11
Instead of re-signing a bunch of flanker types who were all one paced and good mates with the coach to 2 year contracts.

Come the change of coach in 2012, we couldnt offload any dross because it would have completely screwed our TPP for 2013 and possibly longer.

Jeepers .. I already thought the Bulldogs had had one of the worst weeks ever ... to find out they're paying a million dollars of Griff's contract ... I am absolutely staggered ... Unbelievable.

Just had a look at a season review (2013) of Matthew Dick over on the Swans website. Looks a good build, and seems to have some pace and a penetrating kick. Not sure why we are targeting another half-back. Maybe to free up Yaz and Buckley!?

I suspect it's the pace, age and size ... Probably in that order .. We're covering our holes slowly and that outside, line-breaking speed is an obvious shortfall atm ... He actually came first in the 'clean hands' test at the combine (can't remember what they call it), and I think they said one of the fastest sprints as well .... If we get these flanker types, we can then release our current flankers into the midfield - like Doc and Bucks, who I think are both experienced from their junior days (not certain on that).

It does however make Bulldogs a very scary prospect.

With a midfield of McRae, Bonts, Libba, Stringer, Hrovat, etc
and Boyd up forward all maturing together.

Really put them up their challenging with Gold Coast, GWS, Port as the future powerhouses
Some of their kids will get picked off because the bullies are putting so much of their hard earned into Boyd. the Giants right now are having to part with some kids, as it gets harder to hold onto all your youngsters as they keep getting better. of course they will hang onto Boyd, but they are not a wealthy club and the best kids will want more money like Boyd as they improve. it might end up being like Sydney where they have to let someone go or a couple....who knows ???

Given Rogers rated Jaksch at #5 in the 2012, it's feasible that he may not have rated talls that were available at #7 this year, any higher.

It can be viewed that we now have a free hit at #19 and the player in Whiley, meeting our profile needs.

Sounds like a pretty bloody good deal to me.
I believe that if I had been in GWS`place, I would have only offered us pick 24, so it is a very generous deal.............

Cheers for that info, I guess he just fell victim to being on a strong list and teams having to make mandatory list cuts.
Players with pace and efficient disposal are always welcome.. especially when we don't have to give up draft picks or players.

Hmmmm me think 4 6 &7 is much better than 1 & 21
But, yes they are in a great position to do what they want
In their deal with the WB, GWS getting Griffen is almost the secondary bit of the trade because in my opinion they only let Boyd go because the dogs gave them that extra pick (6) and they can now keep 6 or 7 and send 2 picks to the saints to get pick 1 and Petracca. Once that pick was offered it was keep Boyd and lose him next year, or let him go and get Petracca!!! Today will tell the story, but I don`t think they will give the saints 3 picks that early in the draft unless the sainters drive an extra hard bargain.

What's the point of having a favourite player in your team and getting their number on your jumper if they are eventually going to leave
A bit spooky this, but the last two guys that have worn the number 13 GWS jumper have both ended up at the WB !!! Darley went to the dogs at last years trade sessions, and Boyd has gone this year !!! If I was running GWS, I think that I would retire that number for good.......not that Darley is any Boyd exactly but......???
